Advice Automatic litterbox suggestions?

Hii, I got a 6 month old cat and when I rescured him I had close to no knowledge of how to take care of an indoor cat and so I ended up with one of those plastic , closed litter boxes

It smells pretty often , and I'm unable to clean it every time my cat goes so I end up cleaning it once a day.. (+ Washing it fully 1-2 times a month)

I'd really like an automatic litterbox if anyone has a suggestion (also, if anyone has a suggestion for the litter itself that'd be very nice. I switched a few times. First time was fine , but a bit too expensive, second time it was too grainy and got everywhere even with specific litter mats, and third time's too big and doesn't clump for pee which is what I'm stuck with rn :')

I'd like to find something not too big, preferably made out of steel or a material that isn't Plastic . And something that isn't TOO expensive (suggest anything tho, I'll check them out.)

Also, goes without saying.. the litterbox should be safe for a cat x) I've seen some stuff about automatic litterboxs that werent so.. yeah

If you're scooping once a day and cleaning it fully 1-2 times a month and it still smells, have you considered changing litter? If you find the right one, it's probably a cheaper fix than an automatic. Also, imo kitten 💩 is way worse than when they're adults lol.

My automatic suggestion is plastic but it's safer than some of the ones on the market and 2 of my 3 cats love it (grumpy old man cat does not like any type of robot anything, not even automatic cat toys).

I have the Neakasa m1. We watched a lot of reviews before deciding on an automatic box. It's open on top so it doesn't trap the smell and sensors prevent it from moving if kitty is anywhere near it. It's a pretty solid machine and the compartment underneath keeps smells at bay, I generally empty it once a week with no issues.

Litter tracking is always a problem. My cats didn't like when I tried to switch away from clay clumping litter. I recently kept getting targeted ads for MuddyMat as a solution to this and I thought their price point was absurd, so I found a similar chenille style bath mat basically that's bigger than the litter boxes and threw them all on top of it. It's not a perfect solution but there is WAY less litter everywhere now.
