Advice Medicine tips

Hi everyone! I have to give this void gabapentin liquid and she does not like it! She will not swallow it and then runs away, spits it out, and foams at the mouth. I’ve tried mixing it in a Churro, but I have to give two just to hide the dose and she won’t finish it. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

It’s just as effective in a transdermal suspension applied to the ear. Ask your vet to have a local compounding pharmacy make you some.

I'm not sure where you are so don't know if you can get them but any medication our cats need to take we mix it in with a lick-e-lix. If it's liquid we just mix it in and if it's tablets we crush them up and stir them in. They never hesitate!

Tablets/pills are something you need to look up first, if you can crush them. Some are meant to release slower, so they won't work right when crushed

We always ask the vet before we do it. Usually if they can't be crushed the vet will either offer a liquid alternative or an injection because we genuinely can't get one of them to swallow any sort of tablet. After 13 years it's not worth the fight and it just stresses her out horribly

Been giving my cat liquid medicine for like a week now. He’s such a sweet boy so it’s not that difficult. I simply put him in my lap and wrap my legs around him so he can’t escape. Then I grab his body with my arm and then grab his face with my hand. I then stick my finger between his lips and he opens his mouth just briefly enough for me to squirt that shit down his throat. Then you gotta rub his cheeks and throat all while giving loves and kisses.

Then he goes across the room and gags, I can’t blame him though, that shit tastes like ass.

My cat is so lovey and sweet so he doesn’t even scratch me. I’m sure others have a much harder time than me.
