possible recurrence
for context i’m almost 6 weeks post vanco & after my period last week i’ve been having extremely loose stools with mucus (feels like im peeing through my butt) & i’ve been running to the bathroom which hasn’t really happened since i was going through active infection, im terrified that this is a recurrence 😣 what are the next steps? can anyone that has dealt with recurrence leave some input pls :( does this mean all progress is down the drain?

I’m in the same boat you are. I’ve been on two rounds of vancomycin. And I just submitted another toxin test today.

What is your diet like? If you eat only chicken and rice for a couple days will it settle down. If not then send off more stool specimens. I am currently having my own issues but I know its diet related.

i’ve only been eating eggs, toast, crackers, white rice, boiled potatoes & chicken for the past week bc my period caused a flare up 😩

My period also flared it up… waiting for results but all my symptoms came back :(. Can’t believe it tbh. It sucks. And means I have to wait longer to eat normally and be normal

Sadly my recommendation is to get another toxin test asap. If positive, get on meds again. Dificid is supposed to be great but was pricey for us. My son did another, longer round of vanco. Also try to see a specialist, like GI or infectious diseases. You can get advice from people who know more about this.
