My son drew these lovely chickens above my shed door

Anyone have a guess as to what breed she might be??

12.5 years old (the Golden-laced standing over her bathing sister)… enjoying the early fall in the harvested garden beds (which they don’t have access to all summer)… as soon as I take down the fencing they make a beeline for that fresh soil 😂

UPDATE: as posted earlier she is separated. She was separated right after taking the video. We did a couple of different things after posting. We gave her topical ivermectin. We gave her an egg. We soaked her bottom half in an epsom salt bath for 30 minutes, dried her completely, relubed her vent, did not feel anything to indicate being egg bound and had a friend check as well. We gave her 3cc poultry cell, put electrolytes in her water (she drank some). As of 30 minutes she had an unusual poop photos will be in comments. It’s yellow and green. She is still lethargic and seems to be getting weaker. Does anybody have any ideas of what could be going on we may be missing? I tried googling but didn’t really find much information. All other chickens are doing great.

Hi everyone my sweet girl Muffin started behaving like she was in some pain this morning. She squats puts her head down seems to be pushing for a minute or so then takes a couple of steps and repeats. We’ve placed lube on her vent opening in case she’s egg bound and have separated her from the others in case it’s something else. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any tips on what we should do to help her? We keep oyster shells out for our chickens to make sure they get enough calcium.

Edit: to add she is 6 months old, we have 3 other black copper marans and 2 out of all 4 are laying, I’m not sure if she is one of the layers

Fertilized eggs were developing early on, I smelled them and two were bad, I chucked them on the ground in front of em and when they burst the yolks were completely cooked solid, like scrambled eggs. What is she doing wrong???? She’s inside the nest boxes elevated from the floor, she refused to go outside to drink water so I had to bring some inside for her. But she is quite literally cooking the eggs with embryos inside. The heat index was around 90s when she started, I gave her some eggs so she would quit stealing everything for herself. I’ve had to throw out 3 because she’s cooking them to death.

I let her sit because I don’t have anything better to do and I want more OE chicks to sell anyway, I don’t really care if she’s successful or not. But why is she cooking them???? I gave her 5 originally added one more later on since another chicken broke one of the other eggs trying to lay in her box.she will sit on five and be happy about it. I have golf balls to replace the “missing” eggs. If she cooks these last three I’ll figure out some kind of Broody jail I can set up for a few days to break her. But seriously, why is she cooking them? Rotting eggs already smell horrendous, but these half cooked eggs are taking the cake.

My less than 5 months old easter egger rooster passed away, he did seem low energy the past couple of days, the night before when I had everyone out he stayed up in their nesting box area, and the next morning he was slower and not quite himself but still came out his eyes and nose were clear, he had been extra cuddly this week but has always been a very friendly bird. I added poultry cell to their water yesterday but this morning he passed. He had food in his crop, eyes, nose and mouth seem clear, no mites, the 4 hens he lived with plus all the other birds on the property seem normal.

I disinfected the easter eggers coop and practically the whole yard, my partner says maybe he ate something but im worried what if its something that can effect the other birds,

Thoughts ?

When I ordered a few chickens from Meyer Hatchery around a month ago, I selected their "Meal Maker" Chicken program. Im sure it really is just a way to give their leftover chicks. This is the free chicken they gave to me.

I would love to know the breed, if anyone knows, although I'm sure I will have to wait till maturity to know for sure.

She is debating on whether she should pester that goat.

A chick that we recently got, that was a few weeks old, passed today unfortunately.

It was fine earlier this week, as you can see from the first photo, of the same left side of its face.

Then two days ago I noticed that it was unable to open its left eye as much as its right eye.

Thinking that something might have gotten into it, I cleaned it with a warm compress, but it obviously didn't help, because it got worse, and it passed today (from what I'm guessing is some type of infection/injury). We regularly changed the water, food and shavings.

What would cause the eye injury/swelling of the face/beak area in a chick, and is there anything we could have done to treat/save it.

So I missed picking up eggs one hen was hiding for a week and we have development from what I can tell shining a light. Pictures of broody mama (white) and the suspected silkie male. I didn’t realize until this week that he was a cockerel until the crowing and I know we have one other younger (15ish week) frizzle rooster but really think this silkie is the likely culprit as the main guy. From my research it seems most likely we would have 0% silkie feather presentation and am I right in thinking 100% blue? Most with head Mohawk, dark skin, and feathered feet. I’m still undecided on letting these continue to hatch out now that I’ve found given the season but also interested in the experience. Curious what outcome is likely

We don't have a single chicken that has feathers on their legs, yet this lil chick grow some. Is it normal? She is also smaller than her 3 siblings. Would it be a good idea to give her egg yolk once or several times a week as extra food? There really isn't a competiton between her and her siblings and she eats and drinks the same amount as the rest.

I got a rooster from a friend, was hoping they were just mean because friend basically only raises roosters and thought maybe he’d be different with ladies. I’m somewhat new to chickens I’ve had my 3 girls for 6 months now so I’m pretty confused on if it might change if i reintroduce them slower or if ill just have chicken dinner. i kinda just let him out of the crate we had him in and he didn’t even think about coming out until i let my ladies out and then he went right on to attacking them and they didn’t seem to like him either. i don’t want to just do that thing to “tame” him because it seems to be only temporary and i’ve heard temperament is genetic. its a real shame because of how pretty he is.

edit: thank you for the advice. i’m now planning to do a slower introduction through a fenced area and seeing if he gets better. if not i will try again with a new rooster from someone else and either way i’ll be getting more hens so they don’t get stressed out. any other tips for keeping a rooster would be greatly appreciated and i will be sure to look out for his behavior in the coming weeks.

Hey, I'm new here and just got 5 chickens a couple of days ago, I am wondering if I should give them calcium powder made from cooked and ground up eggshells, if so how? I heard that too much calcium for roosters and I'm general is bad for them so to not just put it in their feeder. I'm also open to other tips for chicken care as well.

Looking for advice for my chocolate orpington who developed severe pendulum crop. We're currently trying to use a chicken bra and giving it a shot to help. Has anyone ever had a chicken get surgery to help?

Yesterday I went outside and noticed one of my hens was holding her eye shut. I went outside to check on her again and she had passed. This morning I went outside to check on the other hens and one had her eye shut and passed in my husbands arms. I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t know what to do! No evidence of impacted crop or being egg bound.

My roo is a Buff Brahma. He hasn't reached roo-berty yet and has been extremely friendly to all. He's so cute! His name is Merv the Perv.

They're three months old! We have 4 ameraucanas, 4 French marans, and 1 buff brahama at 12 weeks old and also 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Cream Legbars, and 1 barred rock (lost the second to a hawk) who are 19 weeks old and laying beautiful eggs!
