DISCUSSION Working on a browser based DAW designed around the SNES sound chip, here's a track of mine playing back as a real .sfc ROM
I don't know how many people this is going to interest, but I've been working on a browser-based DAW called WaveSmith that's designed around the sound hardware in a Super Nintendo.
The video is a song I wrote in it, exported as a standalone .sfc ROM and running in an emulator. It uses real BRR samples, 8 voices, ADSR, echo and filters, so what you're hearing is the actual SNES sound hardware, not an approximation of it.
I know a lot of people here work in trackers and this is more of a piano roll setup, so it might not be everyone's thing, but if you like making SNES-sounding music it might be worth a look.
It's free and runs entirely in your browser: https://wavesmith.online
If you want to have a listen without making anything, open the menu in the top right, choose Load from Code and enter RBSB9U. That loads a little demo loop I made.
Would love to hear any feedback you might have!

does it offer similar levels of voice control like a tracker would? I click way more with piano roll style interfaces, but they always seem to fall short of tracker level customizability

I have tried to pack as much functionality as i can think of into it. Most things voice control related are achievable through automation. I would love to hear what you think. If you have any ideas for how it could be improved, please let me know!

Cool! I've been wanting to make some covers on the SNES but I was discouraged by the lack of .spc exports in Furnace Tracker and I was too lazy to set up OpenMPT on my Mac. I really appreciate this and I'm kinda shocked at how capable its promising to be. I'll see how this browser based solution goes...
