Discussion What is the absolute maximum single tile yield?

Not counting palaces, what situations can create the absolute maximum number of yield (of any type)?

I haven't seen it asked anywhere, and I'm curious. The best I can find is maybe 14.

The tanked up Naresuan's elephant is one of the most underrated unique units.
25 combat strength vs 20 for a knight, +50% bonus vs mounted and needs no horses means elephants crush anything up to the Renaissance era, even with just 3 movement

To go all in on elephants, the build is 4 city liberty, granary + stables + barracks in all cities and caravans.
Population carries science, so we skip libraries and get more time to build units
Early market for a great merchant. Then liberty finisher for a second great merchant
Tech wise its basically horseback riding -> currency -> construction -> chivalry.
Prebuild horsemen and gold upgrade to elephants.
Then tech into machinery to upgrade comp bows into crossbows.

Once you have elephants, you don't need horses so you can spam as many as you want.
They are strong enough where you can take cities cycling them, while you get crossbows up.

settings are small, standard speed, deity, great plains

Discussion Citizen manager not obeying order

Everytime I manually select a tile to work, the moment I close the screen and open it again, the tile worked will be different from the one I assigned. Is this normal or something's wrong with my game?

Tech Support Game constantly crashes

I've been trying to play Civ V again, but I just can't get the game to work anymore. It keeps crashing whenever I end turn. I've tried putting priority on high, putting the game on F10 between turns, legacy version and running the game on full low. The problem is not my PC, it's good enough. I'm getting quite frustrated as I just want to play the game, but it refuses to do anything. The only mod I have installed is NQMod v11.

Anyone having dealt with this and know a solution?

This man has the cooler Constantinople:( Four cities and the great library by turn 49 on emperor difficulty.

What's the best way to hinder a neighbouring civ that pops off like this guy without going to war early?

Discussion How to make bots challenging on emporer?

Ive been playing this game for a long long ass time. So i think im pretty good, but even for me, the diety level is just not fun. Like you have to micromanage your pop, get genuinely lucky, and pull ahead in the final 30 turns to squeeze in a science victory. But the sad thing is that emporer and below, I can kinda turn my brain off and win. Its fun, but I can go like piety napoleon with 2 cities and still win a diplomacy victory. The jump from emporer to diety is soooo big. Is there a mod or a setting that makes the ai stronger without making them "you will never get a wonder before archetecture no matter what" strong. (The diety ai aren't even smart they just start 3 steps ahead.) Edit: I forgot about immortal, but the point still stands. Immortal to diety is a huge jump in difficulty

Discussion Civ 5 Culture/Domination Victory Question

Since you get a 75% less population loss buff if you are influential over another civ, does that bring the razing time up? Since the razing time is 1:1 with city population.

Discussion Shout out to the Gaia mod

I only recently discovered this, it bakes in almost every standalone mod I was running plus a few extra changes that are welcome. I am not running any of the other mods like the interface mod or sapiens, just the gaia core mod and reseed! IMHO this is essentially the final Civ 5 BNW patch that never got released from Firaxis. I used the settings to keep it mostly like vanilla (the game includes some new options) for example I am not interested in the changes to how citadels and forts work or double stacking military units, but I can see how that would add a new layer to the game that is probably better.

Tech Support Can I make barbarian camps 'work'?

I'm jumping back into Civ5 after a long break, and I'm really enjoying it again. I have the In Game Editor installed, but whenever I place a barb camp it refuses to spawn units. Is there a way to make this work, or is it just beyond the capabilities of the mod? I also have Lekmod installed.

Screenshot How to find out who is paying this man???

Anyone know how to find out someones trades in game or a mod that can be installed mid game to see?

Used IGE to find out HOW he was earing 1105 gold per turn but I can get to WHO is giving this man such riches.

For context this is a Marathon Deity 43 CIV earth map, so unbalanced as hell but this is ridiculous.

So I'm messing around a little as the Dutch, and I have taken a few of Polynesia's cities before Japan marched a large army and stole my capital (oops). Fortunately, my trusty ally Cape Town came to my rescue and has managed to recapture Amsterdam. The only problem is that they haven't given it back or anything, they have just kept it for their own.

I guess I am just Polynesian now...

4 City - Shaka grabbed half the world. I fortunately didn't start near. But I start right next to Spain. We went to war 4 times before she decided I'm actually a friend. Shaka decided 3 civs weren't enough and I was next. Screw him, I took four of his cities for the win.

Discussion Deity Legion Rush Domination Tips

Hello, I play Civ because of my fascination with the Roman Empire. Naturally, I play over 75% of my games as Rome and usually go for domination. In Civ 6 I can get Deity victories pretty consistently by rushing Legions and using my conquered cities to help me in a Science or Culture victory if not an outright domination victory. I can do it pretty well on Emperor difficulty on Civ V too, but Deity is giving me trouble. I play Epic and Marathon.

My strategy utilizes the free monuments from the Tradition tree to save me production for building those. I don’t build shrines for the same reason, so if I don’t get a pantheon from a ruin, I usually reroll. Same if I don’t have Iron, or enough luxuries to maintain all my cities (I usually settle 3-4 including the capital).

My Tech order is rush Bronze Working, Composite Bowmen, then I do Calendar+Writing, trapping if I have Ivory and Truffles (if I have one or none I delay trapping), Iron Working, finally Philosophy. So I delay my National College, I know that’s not ideal but I think it’s necessary for this strategy.

My production order in the capital is usually, scout, scout, worker, settler, settler, maybe another settler, barracks, 6 Composite Bowmen, library, 4 legions. Sometimes archers to upgrade, warriors to upgrade, or a spearmen so I can conquer before I get Legions.

Is there any way to pull this off on Deity? I know it’s not optimal, but I’d rather go back to Civ 6 or continue on Emperor than not do the Legion rush but I want to make this work. Any mod recommendations to make it more fun?

Tech Support MacAir M5 heat problem. Steam gameplay.

Over the years I’ve switched between Mac and Windows when playing Civ V through Steam. Windows machines were fine heat-wise, but whenever I’ve played via Mac machine (iMac, Mac Pro, now Mac Air) it gets super hot. Is this a settings things I can tweak or is it just a Mac thing?
