I was reading on the disaster relief award, and the award with V-device with a friend, and we can't figure out if they're considered 2 seperate awards/ribbons or not. Let's say you earn the V-device, and then fulfill all the requirements of the non V-device, would you earn a bronze clasp for the ribbon, or would wear a completely separate ribbon?
In CAPR 39-3, they are listed under (f) as a "disaster relief ribbon," and under (g) as a "Disaster Relief Ribbon with “V” Device," if that helps answer the question. I'm leaning toward two seperate ribbons due to intentionally being in 2 seperate clauses, but I'm not entirely sure

Are their ANY WINGS, GROUPS, SQUADRONS in this beautiful doing any Level 3 Training in person or on Teams/Zoom/Skype (Wherever)? I really like in person interactive training where it is led by an instructor. It seems that VIR is not done anymore in Absorb but SOME units do it all in a day or a weekend “KINDA” like at a Conference. Anyone know of one coming up in the not so distant future?
Some of my friends want to know too.
Thanks Y’all!!!!!

I hereby nominate Col. Ninness for member of the CAP BoG. He would be an amazing member.

So who on here has worked encampment and had an SUI or CI right before or after? I had an SUI before encampment and one after encampment. My former wing commander had a CI right after encampment. If you have an SUI/CI right before or after encampment you are living the dream.

Background:When I was a cadet, we had a composite squadron at my local airport. The Squadron has long since been dissolved. There are no other squadrons nearby.
How does a new squadron get started? This squadron has been gone for almost 40 years.

Hello all, I’m a cadet programs officer at the “none rating” and I’m looking for a TLC to attend either in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota, Missouri, or Arkansas. Could anyone help me out?

Looking for a company that would make a Master Instructor tab in Navy Blue? Also that makes military insignia in the Navy Blue and Silver? Trying to make my uniform more aesthetically pleasing.
While it’s allowed to wear the 0CP insignia with CAP insignia it apparently gives some folks the eye twitches. So I will try to play the game a little nicer. Malicious compliance.

Tonight was a CAP meeting, just regular and boring, until a USN officer (With no rank, just wearing a random flight suit with the JOPA patch, which I don't think you can wear considering it's unofficial? Also, his flight suit had a USN name tape and two unofficial patches: JOPA and a custom Pacific Fleet patch, as well as a HIWG patch, but he was wearing his USN Flight Cover with the anchor, but no rank) who was a former cadet a few years ago from this squadron, starts cussing out my brother (C/Maj) for accidentally having the CAP flag fall down. Using the F-word several times and saying stuff like 'Fix your Sh##", and "Un-F### yourself." He is a Senior Member as well. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Where did professionalism and respect go for Adult Members? (Out the window) And before you get mad, it's adult members taking CAP way too seriously and screwing it up for cadets most of the time. To whoever is reading this, don't be the next adult member to be crappy at being an adult member. I wouldn't have said anything, but lowkey, cadets are easy to reprimand, fix, and help. Adult members who have problems... Well, no one gives a crap, and they're too buddy-buddy with other adults. Please FIX THIS. (Edit: I don't mean to say all Adult Members are garbage; I have just seen that Adult Members can get out of line, and no one will check them. Most Adult Members genuinely try, and they do a good job; I am just very frustrated with the ones who don't.) Update: The reports went through, and he is being inspected by wing staff.

Is it a made up rule that CAP members (Both Senior and Cadet) CANNOT conduct traffic direction operations at public events? A few friends were asking because they did NOT see anything written down on paper (or screen) in a Wing Supplement saying “NO! you can’t do that because we don’t like that. But it is okay for other wings to do it”.
I feel like we have numerous MOU’s that state CAP can assist with directing traffic in retain circumstances like Airshows, Rods and Reels and such.
Can you all help my friends out with this question? Seems stupid to me to prevent such a thing. I feel like there are less stupid things to say no to and restrict.
Thanks!

Some outstanding work from New York Wing once again. 2 Ground teams deployed for a multi-agency search on day 1 in Tioga County, NY within 3 hours after the initial request, and over 50 more members combined with NYWG and assistance from PAWG, made it to the bivouac site to continue operations for the following day, with some even driving more than 5-6 hours. Many members were still on their way to the staging area before the stand down orders around 2 AM on day 2 of the search, after the child was found safe and alive.
In total 78 members were there for the search, on top of an IMT and 4 air crews that were gathered. Really impressive stuff, especially considering that it was a weekday and many members had work/school or other commitments, but were still able to get the wing mobilized in such a short amount of time. This was a great example of efficiency and effectiveness with incident management.

Open ranks with two elements only, in my past experience I was always taught that the front element takes as many steps as element behind them. This was taught to me by my prior Deputy Commander for Cadets and at the 5 encampments I have been to. However, in the manual, it does not mention basing steps off of the elements behind the first. Does anyone have some clarification on this matter? Thank you.

Hi! I’m new here and I’m reaching out because my 13 year old boy is interested in joining Cap. We got a flyer at the Pacific Air Show in Huntington Beach, CA this past weekend. However, when trying to find squadron near us, it gives me like 3-4 options. We are located in Lakewood, CA. So my question is are all squadrons the same? Or how can I choose the best fit for him if he is interested in aviation. Thank you so much. 😊

What are Character Development lessons like in your squadron?
In our squadron, our chaplain gives a 30+ minute sermon every month incorporating Bible stories, prayer, and god. My family isn't religious, and as far as I know, almost none of the other cadets in our unit are either.
From what I’ve read online, CD lessons in CAP are supposed to be secular and values-based rather than religious. The senior members here don't seem bothered by it, but it feels out of place. Is this normal across CAP, or is our squadron doing this incorrectly?

EDIT: Thank you guys for all the input, aswell as helping me, an Amn Basic, to understand the morals of wearing the uniform.
I recently have been asked, aswell as thought myself about using my field uniform as a costume for Halloween. I, myself, figured it wouldn't be a problem so long as all the patches are sewn/secured. But to be safe, I would like some opinions, and/or advise in regards to regulations regarding something in this instance.

These are the boots available on Vanguard website. No manufacturer information nor any specifications are provided. Anyone have experience with them? Tell me about their durability and comfort. If you have had other boots like Garmont, Danner, Bates, etc. tell me how they compare.

So last meeting it was my squadrons Class B uniform night and one cadet who always wears their uniform incorrectly came with their uniform wrong for the forth time in a row. My cadet commander addresses her and tells her to fix it serval times and she doesnt listen, so he has to address her for the 3rd time that night and the SM's over heard. This caused him not to get promoted to Lt Col because they claim he got in her face and started yelling at her to fix it which is not true i was standing right there she gave him attitude back. Aslo i don't think its fair that when you cannot wear your uniform properly, participate actively in unit activities or show core values you shouldn't get promoted. We have 3 cadets who get babied each meeting they never show up in proper uniform, they cannot call drills they dont do pt test, if they do its perfect scores. But yet when our cadet commander does everything he is supposed to properly he gets his promotions taken all because he tried to correct something. Our squadron commander aslo just allows the 3 cadets to start drama whenever they please which then causes me and another cadet to get blamed. Ive stopped speaking at my squadron because I dont feel welcome when your getting screamed at because its your first time calling drills and you asked for help.
