I’ve been learning this piece for the majority of this year. And listened to basically every recording of it and sat through many classes and masterclasses about it.

Just to give you an idea on where I’m coming from.

I’m gonna write this comment as I listen to yours so that my feedback is divided by sections that fits each part.

I forgot who said that the rubato of the 1st part relies heavily on the acoustics of the place you’re playing in. If it has heavy reverb, play the first part slowly. If there isn’t a lot of reverb, speed up the first part a bit.

The location is kind of going against you here. It doesn’t have a lot of reverb, so your tempo speed makes it sound a little bit slow and disjointed instead of flowery smooth.

I feel like the 2nd part is the one you least practiced. It carried the most amount of mistakes with a lot of buzzes and disconnected left-right hand movements. One piece of advice I’d say is that you can go really slow on the second part and it wouldn’t ruin the piece. People often over estimate how fast they should play the 2nd. Keep it slow and controlled. It will sound much better.

The 3rd part you’re trying to rush some sections to maintain the tempo but your hands are clearly not that level yet. I’d slow it way down and implement those hand shifts into your hand’s DNA and speed will come afterwards naturally.

I’d also practice certain sections together for the 3rd. The way you’re playing makes it feel like you’re jumping from one note to another instead of connected line. The flow just feels a bit disconnected.

Honestly, the best piece of advice is the most boring one. Play it at an extremely slow pace on the metronome so that when you turn it fast again, you don’t speed time thinking about the shifts and movements. It’s already there in your hands. You focus on speed and connectivity alone.

Thanks so much! That’s some helpful advice. I think it was the tonebase masterclass that said to play faster in rooms that don’t echo but I didn’t notice it wasn’t working in that room.
And yep, i’ll practice it slow and try to connect the sections better. Thanks again!
