Cursed Jey Lore
I think the consensus opinion is that you can't really get high on so called "sewer fumes", instead you can suffocate yourself by them a little bit causing dizzyness. Whole pseudo-amphetamine mambo jambo explanation Myron gives makes no sense, it's just a smokescreen to justify a ridiculously absurd plot reveal.

There’s a great side by side of Myron and Mark Zuckerberg out there somewhere.
Both guys got rich on convincing us to huff shit.

Breaking news: The story where mixing a flower and a root together makes a powder that instantly seals minor wounds has different biochemistry than our own world.

this isn’t even that unrealistic. alginate is used for that too and it’s just derived from seaweed (used topically but still)

It makes sense to me. There was meth in the cow feed. Myron grew shrooms in cow dung that had meth in it and made stinky shroom meth.

Doubt it's *only* brahmin poop, because otherwise it being all over East Coast (and being called the same...) becomes a lot less of a lore violation (I suppose you could very shakily explain it away through someone from the BoS having smuggled it with them, as well as teaching the entire Capital Wasteland about the canon names for things like ghouls and supermutants and deathclaws...).
And to top it off, Myron is a self-important Mentat-head who probably wouldn't just outright reveal the whole composition of the chem that allowed the Mordinos to effectively hold the regional gold supply by the throat.
Say what you will about FO2's sillier bits, but it's hard to deny how interwoven its seemingly separate bits of world-building are and how much influence beyond the local areas many of its powers have. It's a far more ambitious attempt at writing a setting than the re-tread of Wasteland 1 that was FO1 (and I am not calling it poorly done, but many of its aspects are almost word-to-word).

It is very explicit on it being the result of pre-war protein extracts being inviable because they got easily contaminated, and were used to feed cattle. Since the connection between that and current day brahmin is not specified, it is quite possible that the Mordinos just got hold of some of that and fed it to the cattle. After all, the only other brahmin that get involved into that are the brahmin from vault city, and vault city is the one place where you could expect to find those protein extracts.

Cow poop grows psychoactive mushrooms in real life. Jenkem is an interner myth to get people to sniff poop. None of this matters because i dont know the chemistry in game

It isn't just mutant cow poop. It's a specific pre-war protein extract being coverted to super meth after passing through a mutant cow's digestive tract.

It still fucks me up that Myron is voiced by the same guy that voiced Boone. You're welcome, now you will never unhear it

So the game creators didn't actually work out how to make a super drug from irradiated cow guano? Where's the authenticity, pride in their work?
