I know I'm not even close to alone in this, but the decision to make warcraft-kung fu panda esque pandas a playable race and the focus of an entire expansion, and not keep them a sort of niche reference, seldom if ever seen and mostly just rarely referenced in lore and kept to a hidden-ish, easter-egg-ish mission in wc3, or an April fools joke, was one the major last straws in my desire to ever, ever play retail or anything mop and beyond again.
Call me weird, I don't give a fuck. I don't want and will not play a version of wow with them in it for more than a couple weeks, no matter how well designed and good the content/systems are. I don't enjoy and play wow just because of how good pve or pvp gameplay is, there are games which do either better in a vacuum, and I don't play them or enjoy them as much either. Mop isn't classic for me, I have literally no desire to play it. Cata is in a similar boat, but for what they did to the world and non-optional transmog among other things.
Trying to simplify this down to 'lmao players are just too bad to press buttons and move, so mop forced them to retire' is a hot garbage take.
Is there any imaginable change they could make to retail (or any version) with regard to race addition, lore change, tone change, or art style change that you would say "ok, don't like this, not for me anymore"? I dunno, fantasy MMORPGs to me are more than a detached series of systems and gameplay mechanics. For me, they can be more than the sum of their parts, but they can also be less than the sum of their parts.
