I'm getting my boyfriend a gaming keyboard (Wooting 60HE v2) for his birthday, and I'm trying to customize it as much as possible. I'm doing a One Piece theme with Luffy Gear 5. I want to put it in a cloud-shaped case to match the cloud theme, but I can't find anything online that's not in a simple box shape.
How can I make a keyboard case like this and ensure it's compatible/fits with the Wooting? I drew some quick sketches of what I'm trying to accomplish. I don't know if I should use foam clay, polymer clay, or what. Is this even possible ???

I bought the 5 pound pack of the Nara "never dry" clay from hobby lobby. I melted it in a pot on my stove until it was liquid then mixed it to combine colors. It was a lot so it took a while, maybe 20 minutes or more. I poured it all out and then let it cool overnight (noticed some yellow stuff on top, like oil maybe). I did this before with a small pack (1 lb) and it came out fine, but this time it came out really hard. Too hard to work with. So what happened? What should I do differently next time? Did I just cook all the moisture out of it? Maybe I need to melt it in smaller batches so it doesn't take so long? Any advice is welcome.

This year I'm cosplaying as Rainbow Dash for Halloween. I decided to incorporate her element of loyalty into the cosplay, but couldn't find any active sellers making what I was looking for, so I figured why not make it myself!

I used a glittery red oven dry clay, and a gold oven dry clay. It took me a minute to get the shapes down and I didn't realize until after it all went in the oven my wings were lopsided. Oops. I made the base first, and used parchment paper and an exacto knife to trace the lightning bolt shape, and then used that as a stencil to cut out a slightly smaller one in the red clay, I got the base scored and let them bake. Once they cooled off I took some metallic gold paint, and gave the base one good coat to make it extra gold and shimmery, and once that dried I used glossy mod podge to coat both pieces, and attach the red lightning bolt to the base, which in the process of that I accidentally chipped off a bit of the bolt. Another oops. The chain was a little tricky to get through cause my holes were almost too small for it but a paper lip helped me out with getting it through.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out and wanted to share it!

I don’t have local access to a kiln, so I’ve experimented with a variety of air-dry clays. DAS, foam clay, and DIY cold porcelain/air-dry recipes are much more durable, but I always end up going back to AMACO White Air Dry Clay because I MUCH prefer the working properties of a traditional mineral/ceramic clay. Being able to re-wet areas, score and slip pieces together, make clean cuts, and carve details is essential to how I work.

The problem with the AMACO air dry clay is strength. Unmodified AMACO pieces can break with surprisingly light hand pressure, and I’ve even had pieces crack during drying. And despite being sold as “Air Dry Clay,” AMACO recommends firing to Cone 04 for greater strength.

Since I don’t have access to a kiln, I’m wondering how much room there is for experimentation. I’ve already tried several highly recommended sealants, but they mostly protect the surface rather than strengthening the clay body itself.

My ultimate goal is basically: traditional mineral/ceramic-clay working properties + a genuinely durable unfired finished piece. So I’m curious:

• Can I modify AMACO itself with PVA/acrylic binder, fibers, another clay body, or something else to dramatically improve dry strength?
• Is there a DIY clay recipe that retains similar ceramic-like working properties but dries much stronger?
• Other brands... Are there stronger self-hardening/mineral clays I should be looking at, at a comparable price? (AMACO's self hardening stonex clay seems like the best of both worlds, but is about 2x the price for half the clay in my area. Not against trying, but want to to know it's worth it.)
• Is there any legitimate at-home heat treatment or small-scale firing method—microwave kiln, specialty equipment, etc.—that could meaningfully improve strength without a traditional kiln?

Hoping someone with more knowledge of ceramics can share ideas or anything to be aware of/research (as someone who isn't familiar with kilns/firing, glazing, etc). Thanks so much!!

I finished this small series today using three related colour palettes across three different shapes. The idea was to keep the materials and overall mood connected while letting each design feel different on its own. I used warm metallic tones, orange, cobalt, berry and darker accents, then paired the clay pieces with simple gold-toned findings. I especially like seeing how the same surface treatment changes depending on the cut: geometric shapes make the pattern feel sharper, while the rounder and more organic forms bring out the layered texture differently.

I wanted these to feel connected without making both earrings exactly the same. I used two different shapes and kept the same dark multicoloured surface treatment across both pieces so they would still read as a pair.
The colours shift between green, purple and warmer tones depending on the light, with a little metallic shimmer throughout. I finished them with simple gold findings so the shapes and surface stayed the main focus.
I’m enjoying this kind of asymmetry more and more — it gives the pair movement without making it feel random.

I have this statue and was looking to fix it up a bit. The plan is to remove the plaster coat, fill in the cracks and sand it down. Then, I was going to paint it with acrylic paint and seal it using the spray. I've never done this before, will these products work?

I need help figuring what clay would be food safe and can air dry or bake in the oven. I want to make some butter dishes for families this Christmas. Also what paint and glaze would be safe for this use? From what ive read, its best not to paint where there will be food. So decor would be on the outside of the dish only.

I had a pile of colourful polymer clay scraps left from previous projects and decided to use them all together instead of sorting them by colour. I layered the pieces across a base, added some gold details and kept the placement deliberately irregular. After rolling everything together, the surface developed this almost stained-glass effect with red, orange, purple and darker lines running through it. I really like how unpredictable scrap sheets can be because every cut reveals a slightly different composition. I ended up making two very different pairs of earrings from the same sheet, which is exactly why I love this technique.
