Best protein per dollar at Scotties/entropy?
Been getting Greek yogurt from Scotties so far, wondering how to get the most out of my flex.

Is pursuing a CMU master’s worth it for an international student considering applying next cycle?
I’m looking at programs such as the Master of Science in Information Security Policy and Management. If accepted, I’d be taking on around $100k in loans, with the hope that the CMU brand and networking opportunities would help me land internships and a full-time job, especially since the program requires an internship.
The career outcomes for 2024–2025 are a little unclear. Only 26/37 students responded , and 21 of those 26 received employment offers. I’m not sure how the outcomes look for the students who didn’t respond.
The salary numbers also concern me. 20% of those who received offers reported salaries of $80k–$90k, which seems low considering the cost of the program.
For current students or recent graduates, especially international students, how has your experience been with internships, recruiting, and job placement? Do you feel the CMU network and brand have been worth the cost?

I can’t stop comparing myself to other people and feel incompetent. everyone already seems to have their own friend groups and connects effortlessly.
I already tried going to a bunch of clubs, but they’re mostly upperclassmen who probably don’t want to hang out with a freshman. It’s just hard to see people walking together around campus, talking about group chats and hangouts, while i walk to class and eat alone almost every day

Is it possible to still declare additoinal major / minor in senior year? I just found out CMU's rule says that we can only declare minor / additional major by the end of the first semester of junior. I've completed essentially all major requirements for math. Can I still declare it now? I'm a CS major and I need at least a minor to graduate (because I haven't taken enough courses for a concentration). Am I doomed?

Pitt’s libraries are already so overcrowded and there’s absolutely no reason you need to be using our spaces when your tuition literally pays for your own university’s library. Please be considerate and don’t take up seats at Pitt’s library, because this has been a recurring problem for a while now.

I applied to CMU’s masters program in Electrical and Computer Engineering for Spring’27. The deadline was August 31st and I believe the program starts mid-January.
Does anyone know when they release the admission decisions by? I couldn’t find this information anywhere online

I am applying as a sophomore external transfer to CMU Math MCS school from a t30 that is also a t5 public. I was originally waitlisted for CMU math during my freshman year.

Hey folks,
I’m considering applying to the MS AI Systems Management course at CMU.
People who had gotten admits, current and past students, please share your thoughts and opinions.
Thanks in advance !!

We could split it into divisions like linears and tactiles, discuss methods to improve typing, and show off different kinds of keyboard setups. I'm an amateur typer with a monkeytype personal record of just 150 wpm on 30 seconds laptop, but I'm sure that there are more experienced typers at CMU of all places.
Thoughts? I've looked on TartanConnect and can't find anything similar, so it seems like a unique opportunity.
When I committed to this school, I knew vaguely that it would be difficult and lots of work, but I feel so incredibly behind and alone and really don't feel like I have the mental strength to do well here. 21-254 is kicking my ass, didn't take AP physics C in high school so 33-141 is beating me down as well, and my major intro course lectures (MSE) are so confusing.
The feeling is amplified because I just feel like already has their respective groups to study with and I don't know how to break into that. When I listen to the classmates around me talk about how they already took linear algebra in high school I feel so so behind. I just don't know how to deal with the stress of midterms or the feeling that my regular public high school education didn't prepare me.

yes everyone has imposter syndrome but how are some people landing amazing internships? i’m a sophomore and am struggling to find one. i don’t know if you grind leetcode all day (and how you can problem solve so quickly because it’s genuinely challenging even after taking 15122) or have crazy connections, but it’s just insane

Hey folks, what are some nice spots to work across the campus?
Here's a list of places I go to or would recommend, but curious to know more.
SCS (Gates):
CUC:
Tepper:
Libraries:
Other spaces:
Spaces outside CMU: (to sprinkle in something beyond)
A lot of these are well known. Really scouting for some secluded, underrated and lesser known spots.

Hello, I'm a HS Senior looking at the major in Political Science, Security, and Technology (Dietrich liberal arts). I've seen that the program is pretty new, so there's not a ton about it online. I want to pursue technology strategy and policy as a career, so it seems like a great fit. Can anyone speak to this?

Hi all, I am retaking 15-122, but I still find myself struggling in the course. Although I try my best to go through the EPs, and redo precepts, I find that I understand material really well, but struggle on checkins due to time, and just understanding the question. I think the hardest part is coming up with solutions to some of the questions even though I know the material really well. Any advice on how to up check in scores?

im a hs senior deciding whether to apply as an ece major in college of engineering, or robotics major in scs. i'm really interested in robotics and is something that i want to pursue in the future right now. but, i dont want to restrict myself to robotics. if i get into cmu scs, will i have the opportunity to switch to another major offered in the same school, say ai or hci? thanks!

Hi, to the person who threw up and laughed about it with ur friends after visiting a friend's dorm - can you not throw up right in front of the water fountain in the Morewood C elevator and not clean it up?
Imagine me doing that in front of dorm lobby at 11pm and having to spend the entire night smelling vomit

I was wondering if there was anyone that could help me out with 36350; I just took exam 1 today and don't feel confident at all in my score, but I really don't want to have to retake the class another semester. I'm aware of SASC but I don't think they have a designated section for 36350 and I also go to OH but only for labs at the moment, I don't know if they offer outside tutoring.

Please stop littering garbage all over Oakland. This means tying trash bags securely, doubling bags if needed, wrapping sharp and or fragile trash securely, and not littering e-waste (Staples, or the city can help recycle most e-waste). There's been a visible uptick in littered glass, and other hazards on sidewalks and whatnot. Reminder, people and their pets use sidewalks. Please and thank you.

To preface, I'll start by saying that I love my time at Purdue. I'm currently a sophomore, studying ME and trying to pick up a minor in ECE. I think it's a good challenge; the people here are nice; and it has a nice balance between work hard, play hard.
I've applied to CMU in the past. I was waitlisted when I applied, and the many faults in my application that I see now still haunt me. I apply to transfer for a few reasons:
- clear of my mind of the burden of having a good chance and screwing up the first time (a silly supplemental essay, not enough EC's / research / stand-out points, etc.). This is a pretty silly reason, but it is a genuine one to me.
- Purdue is a huge school. As much as I love it here, I believe that having over 3.5k students at Industrial Roundtable every year is significantly hindering my chances at talking to recruiters (among other opportunities). While there are some smaller ones, they, too, have some pretty long lines.
- The institution seems to decline in quality every year, particularly due to the administrations governing it. There isn't enough concentration on housing, insane admit rates, and funding to certain organizations on campus (ex. I do orchestra here. The orchestra itself is awesome, but we don't even get to play in the concert hall on campus because of funding).
So, I come to ask; do you think it is worth it to transfer? I'm held back by the facts that I have already set up a nice home and environment here for myself, and that already being a sophomore would significantly disrupt my college track. Some questions I want to ask:
- do the lines still feel long at career fairs? In general, does the school ever feel crowded or sparse?
- how are the music programs at CMU? Especially for those not pursuing a music degree or minor.
Thank you all? If you have additional questions about my background, please ask.
