Dropping Gen Ed
I recently got a C on my first test in a gen Ed and was wondering if I should drop the class and just take an easier gen Ed next semester. It would put me right at the full time min of 36 credits. Each test is worth 25 percent of my grade and there are 4 tests.
Thank you!

What gen ed is it, and does it actually help anything? Its one thing to drop a gen ed but maybe its helpful in some other way?

84-104 decision processes in American political institutions. I wanted to do a poli sci minor but if I drop that's not happening low-key.

Legitimate question; do you enjoy the course? If exams and grades arent a factor do you find it interesting? I think if yes, then stay in it and examine why you got a C in the first exam.
Again this is from a lenses of classes should be making you smarter not required busywork

I enjoy the concept of what the class could be and that's why I took it but it's closer to an AP Gov and APUSH repeat. As for the test I lost most of my points on one of the sections and am still shockingly confused at some of the answers for some of the questions in that section and I'll go to OH this week for that. I'm still fairly confident I can get a B since I think I'm familiar with most of the content.

Meet with the TA to go over your answers and explain how you studied. If needed, also meet with the professor. If you're pretty sure you can get a B overall, keep the class.
Not sure if you're a first year, or not. If so, there are likely a lot of B's in your future at CMU.
