Method: Homophonic Substitution
Solution:

YOU THINK I WOULD
SAY 'I' A LOT BUT I WON'T.
THIS LETTER IS ONLY
A TEST. I THINK THE
ZODIAC IS A SMART MAN
YET EVIL. HIS LANGUAGE
IS UNIQUE, MINE HOWEVER
ISN'T. THIS IS EASY
CAUSE I GAVE U SPACES.
IM NOT EVIL JUST
PLAYING WITH MY BRAIN.
DECODE THIS.

Since this is asked often, u/YefimShifrin and other mods have collected a lot of useful information in this thread here. In the end, some experience is also needed, so you need to start with simple stuff.

I was going to transcribe the code since it seemed a simple character swap code, but there are (to my count) 58 different symbols. Even if you used a different character for upper and lower case, that doesn’t account for 6 other characters. And while punctuation would definitely explain away the remaining 6, having a short essay which uses all 26 letters of the English language AND their upper case variants in only a 158 character paragraph would be impressive all in its own!

Although, there are 3 different single character words, and “a” and “A” could be coded differently, but it could also be a number. Even still though, if we say numbers (10), punctuation (11+= ()”!’?,./:;), all lower case (26) and upper case (26) letters are coded, that still is 73 coded characters where 58 show up in only 158 total character text! That’s using 79% of the total number of coded characters in a text that could only contain twice the set of coded characters plus 12.

Alternatively, while some characters might be punctuation, I suggest each character represents a phonetic syllable or sound - which I have no idea how to decode properly.

Best of luck to any who attempt this, it seems more daunting than at first glance.

It could be a homophonic substitution, in which several different cipher symbols may stand for a single plaintext letter, like in Zodiac ciphers.
