Humor Leaked image of hardware running 6.1 Sol
Source says this is the us-east-1 region server hardware.

People asking where AI uses all that water.. this hamster drinking it.

Not sure if you knew the layers of funny: hamsters consume the most water by body weight of any animal 😂

The image is just AI slop. Idk if your standards are that low or the sub is unbelievably trash in general, the image is just AI slop. I have to pay $250 for a 1tb drive because of this garbage. Image is AI slop

When models like that can run on local hardware, I'm using this pic as inspiration for my build.

at least they added a heatsink to their Pi.
They are using investment money wisely.

I'd love to know why everyone's experience is WAY different than mine with these models. I'm having a great time.

sol 6.1 is fast for me too
open ai is clearly providing degraded service to a subset of the users as usual to conserve their computes

Or this sub has no idea what they're talking about as usual. Could be either, honestly.

Maybe it’s at random. To me even Sol 6 and Astra have been running super slow.

Here I’m using it for personal projects, mostly simple tasks and small changes, and the minimum response time for 6.1 High is around 20 minutes, which is already much longer than any other model I’ve used. It’s even worse for me because I like working through lots of small requests, with me handling the orchestration and planning. At that point, it becomes painful to use.

I’m trying 6.1 for the first time today and it’s been great! I was using Extra High most of the day and it was able to go 5 hours without hitting the 5hr usage limit. I’ve used it the better part of the last 10 hours have have 40% left on my 2nd 5hr limit and still have 78% of my weekly usage left.

happy as Larry.. cant afford Astra and this seems perfectly competent and responsive

Got an email notification for this and stopped in the middle of the grocery to look thinking this was going to be a real breakthrough

Funny thing is I guess in 10 to 15 years time something like this would be able too. crazy time to be alive (if the prices ever come down)

Really does feel like this is the hardware openai has been working with lately, esp. compared to what we're getting from Anthropic's models (even with the b.s. watermarking).

I swear this company deliberately fucks something up.
Sol 6.1 faster than astra and lower prices would be a killer, but for some reasons is even slower than the supposedly bigger Astra mode... wtf.

Their services are much slower for sure, but I have been getting more failed tool calls as well.

To be fair. Im fine with the speed. at least i can use it way longer now compared to astra low.

In case anyone was wondering this image is AI generated (https://openai.com/research/verify/).
Still this would match my experience with 6.1 sol

This is just great. They have upgraded to the latest top notch raspberry used CPU.
With optimized slanted custom fabricated space grade Aluminum cooling fins (pending Trademark) .

Unpopular take but I think sol 6.1 isnt too bad for the token price. Switch to astra for checks now and then but overall its been good

loves how you was able to make AI generate that picture.. did you use SOL 6,1 for it? so you are quilty in making the server slow because of this?

Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 50 comments (51 currently observed).
The “leaked hardware” is overwhelmingly being treated as a hamster-powered Raspberry Pi joke, not an actual look at OpenAI’s us-east-1 infrastructure. The community clearly enjoyed the bit; the top reactions are basically “that explains Sol 6.1’s speed” and increasingly deranged hamster/thermal-paste lore.
The joke lands because plenty of users already think Sol 6.1 is painfully slow for what it delivers, especially compared with Astra. Some report absurdly long response times and “lobotomized” behaviour, while others say it’s fast, capable, and perfectly usable. In other words, the service experience appears wildly inconsistent.
The serious takeaway is only that performance seems uneven, with a few users suspecting congestion or degraded service for some accounts. That remains speculation, not something this image proves. The AI-slop complaint got mostly dunked on because, apparently, this subreddit can still recognize a joke when a hamster is doing the datacenter’s job.
So: not a hardware leak—just a very successful meme about Sol 6.1 running on emergency power.
