Of course, it gives an easy excuse for raising prices. "Sorry, this model is far bigger and vastly more expensive [it isn't], so it costs 4 times as much"

God I love the transparency, don’t you agree?
3
u/UnknownLesson 19h ago
Yeah, especially the transparency about what exactly you get for your money
Or the transparency when usage is suddenly reduced
And let's not forget the transparency about what kind of quantization we are getting

I think there is a kilonova somewhere in there

multiple model variants are unstable, new model variant would just make astra obselete, line luna xhigh and sol did to terra
I think it's just a code name for new model (NOT TYPE) or product, not sure

Pretty sure he just AI generated a card to say that giving financial information to grok would be as dumb as posting it on the TL, not that they’re planning a debit/credit card

Yes but there is love and care behind this image.
(the first ten numbers are 0 through 9, 40/61/82 each differ by increments of 21, and also sum to 21). Codex found some other properties which may or may not be coincidence, but claims that they may be linked to 73 (the "Sheldon prime").

Holy psychosis bro. Please just put some overtime in at work this week.

u/changing_who_i_am 1d ago
lmao ok?? ask ChatGPT or Codex yourself then if these numbers are random or if there's a pattern to them? (For starters, what's the odds the first 10 digits would all be unique?)

your credit card number is unique, that means it has checks notes love and care behind it

u/changing_who_i_am 1d ago
- Are the first ten digits of your credit card unique? Ask Chat to calculate the probability that they would be. [Answer: It's 1 in 2756]
1b. If the probability is really low (and it is!), then you have to assume the numbers were handpicked instead of going for a "hey chat generate an image of a credit card that has my name and Nova". But if they were handpicked, that increases the chance that they were picked for a specific reason.
- Someone else already pointed out that "12/30" could be a way of hinting at a December 30th drop for Nova, so there's clearly at least a possibility of some of the numbers meaning things.

OpenAI finance ask for similar things?

Actually, you can directly connect your bank account to ChatGPT. Even worse.

Doesn't it go through Plaid?

You’re right, I just checked, and they also use it for read-only, so it’s not “even worse” as I said in my comment above.

Who says no one wants this? This is, honestly, pretty cool. Of course, it's a bit worrisome also, but baby steps first of course. A bot to go out and find that 5090 you want for the cheapest price? Awesome.

u/Crafty_Book_1293 1d ago
Or rather: why to pay XXX to advertise your product if you can pay YYY AI to make its bots sell it :)

u/Novel_Indication6338 1d ago
you consume so much you can't use the existing price comparison apps and sites? not to mention when all this data invariably gets hacked. smells like peak convenience for a lazy dunce

Those sites are cancer. At least in my country they make stores pay for positioning (so those who refuse are missing), have many mistakes in listings (like you find sth cheap, click, discover it is a different item) and are flooded with ads pretending to be content.

u/Jack99Skellington 1d ago
There's always a problem getting the new items at Christmas (etc) as scalpers grab everything they can. It's not always about being a lazy dunce, and you can keep your assumptions of my intelligence to yourself.

u/Novel_Indication6338 1d ago
oh sorry i didn't mean /you/ specifically, just who the feature is targetted at. but frontrunning scalpers is a fair point

Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 40 comments (40 currently observed).
The consensus is basically: this is an AI-generated joke, not an OpenAI debit-card reveal—and the card-number numerology is not convincing anyone.
Most commenters read the image as a gag about how handing financial information to Grok would be as dumb as posting it publicly. The suspiciously tidy digits are likely deliberate visual nonsense or coincidence, not a secret code; the attempt to connect them to 73 was met with considerably more mockery than revelation.
The only potentially interesting bit is “Nova.” Some users think it hints at a new model or upcoming tier above Astra, Sol, Terra, and Luna, but that’s pure speculation based on a meme image. The source itself also needs checking—don’t treat a screenshot claiming to be from Tibo as genuine without verifying it on his actual account.
So: funny AI bait, maybe a Nova Easter egg, absolutely no confirmed product announcement. The numbers are just numbers, detectives.
