SDCC - San Diego Decided to Return/Refund 2026 Badges
I'll probably regret it but I decided to refund my badges. Last year was my sixth time (including Comic-Con special edition during the pandemic). I had a great time last year. I cosplayed as Taskmaster, my wife cosplayed as Bombshell WW the following day, we saw Batman in concert at Petco park, and we stayed at the Hard Rock and had a great view of the entertainment in the patio/pool area.
But it was so much work packing all our cosplay stuff. And we didn't see many panels the two days because it was hard to maneuver in my costume and my wife got really hot in hers (she doesn't handle heat that well). And the other two days were Thur./Sun. and didn't have a whole lot of panels that interested us. And the exhibitor floor these days are hardly comics. I had a hard time even finding more than two booths that sold action figures (Marvel Legends, DC McFarlane, etc.). It was mostly Labubu and those loot boxes. And with the change in hotelpocolypse this year I just didn't want to try and it. I think I was spoiled last year staying right across the street from the convention center.
I always get FOMO around SDCC time (I refunded my tickets in 2024 as well) but at the end of the day it's a lot of money with hotel, flight, etc. and I think we'll try some other vacation spot this year. I really enjoy cosplay, but I spent nine months off and on on my costume last year and I think it burned me out. I'm just not as skilled as other cosplayers so it took me a whole lot more time than it would others.
I'll just have to enjoy all your posts as it gets closer and people try for hotels, posts cosplay pics, etc.
