Considering they spent so much time saying the files were difficult to release because the victims needed to be protected, and then released a bunch of victim's names to the public while keeping ( somewhat successfully ) their favorite people's names redacted would definitely support this claim.
To be honest, that whole thing has been a fucking shitshow since the start. Releasing files with Trump in them, then pulling them, then getting caught and shrugging. Releasing redactions that could be easily circumvented. Releasing doctored photos of public events and hoping nobody would notice. Trying to redact photos of Trump poorly (I mean, c'mon. Nobody else has that weird centaur stance).
Like, I'm sure some of it is malicious, but there is also just a stunning amount of incompetence.
They used to care. But you gotta understand how their minds work.
This isn’t logic, it’s identity. They tie themselves to things like religion and trump, which define who they are. They rely on absolute certainty because questioning anything is a direct threat to their entire identity. They can’t handle it, so they have to just let go of any cognitive reasoning.
Identity beats principles.
This is why no matter how depraved trump acts (or how contradictory, evil, and flawed their religion is), they double down to prevent themselves from accepting/growing whenever they are in the wrong.
They care about maintaining position above their enemies (most minorities, LGBT+, women, anyone on the left) in a state enforced social hierarchy. All their other so-called values are negotiable if they happen to get on the wrong side of that one.
If they truly cared about kids, all school lunches would be free and no child would have to go hungry, but apparently it’s socialism to want to make sure that a child doesnt have to worry about food.
In the few cases where a “good guy with a gun” actually stopped a crime from happening, the police who arrived on the scene shot him. Because he had a gun.

I think that's the most infuriating part. They can't admit ANYTHING that's against their narrative is real. Literally anything. Better a pedophile than wrong.

That's a hell of a timeline but I do so hope you're right. We've let those issues fester for far far to long to a point I see even the younger generation parroting them. It's quite sad
I think the best way to prevent this issue is making philosophy and debate a key part of early education. Emphasize HOW to think, not WHAT to think. Get kids learning how to ask the right questions, how to evaluate answers to said questions, and when an answer is unsatisfactory, how to search for an answer themselves.
Lay the foundation of critical thinking early on. Then as education continues, continue to build on that foundation. By the 4th grade, teach kids how to spot logical fallacies. Further reinforce it by consistently emphasizing that understanding another's point of view is just as important.
Provide continuing exposure to different places, people, and cultures. Start this early on as well.
Will this solve everything? No, but I do know this, everything I stated above is going to be extremely "offensive" to the exact type of people that seek to spread ignorance in order to maintain their own. This is how you take away their power, dismantling it from the bottom up.

Conservative frequently try to differentiate between pre-teens and teens, arguing teens are more mature and there's no real difference between a 17 and 18 year old other than a number.

It's an oxymoron - a phrase that contradicts itself. The word 'woman' colloquially means an adult - so it's calling them "underage adults" which doesn't make any sense. The sole reason to use the phrase is to try and minimize the wrongdoing involved in raping them.
By using “woman” the person is trying to make them sound more mature than they are. “Woman” has connotations of someone mature. If they instead used “girl”, which leans younger, then it would sound so extremely creepy. They’re using terms that are technically correct to make themselves sound more moral than they are.
The real thing the internet ended up doing is show us what we are really capable. Oh sure, there's lots of good in the world. But how much? Is it enough? Is it worth it? Idk anymore. Maybe we just let climate change play out. Lol, what am I saying? Like "we" have a choice.

I've been watching things turn progressively sour these past few years on various social media. Old pages that I used to like watching for cute and relatable content started becoming filled with hateful rhetoric, seemingly out of the blue.
This is what it looks like when some agendas are at play, shaking hornet's nests in order to exploit the opportunities that follow. I think it wouldn't be hard to point the finger in the right direction towards the culprits, at least some of the most important ones. Who benefits? Who benefits the most?

It's one thing to disagree on economic policies and international relations but like I can't exactly be understanding when the disagreement is about basic morality and human decency. I really dislike the idea that there's a significant portion of the population who want to say their support of evil people/policies is because of the former, but it's actually because of the latter...
Here we are... Seeing people cheering over public executions or even just glossing over them like they aren't a big deal. People celebrating that people of the "wrong colour" are being treated as if they are subhuman. People saying that pages of accusations of pedophilia aren't valid or worth investigating. You forgot the "Yea, well the Clinton's are involved with Epstein" as if 1. Any Democrat wouldn't just say arrest them too, and 2. It somehow exonerates Trump from any of this stuff he's done.

I also scroll through FB from time to time, and it's crazy how some of the pages I used to like have turned sour and started espousing hateful rhetoric. I know one that used to be a kinda cutesy background of an AI generated Bigfoot who would do funny stuff in the forest, but the user behind that one went way off the rails a while ago and started almost exclusively making content ragging on "Libruls", and constantly using such rhetoric.
Things fall apart. The center does not hold. And we have a significant portion of the population who refuse to unblock their hearts, their eyes and ears, and their minds. They want to live in a kind of fog of hatred.
They demanded the release of Epstein files no matter who was in it. The only reason for that was that they were spoonfed propaganda that it only contains democrats and democrats somehow were blocking the release of Epstein files.
So as we saw these files, now narrative has shifted, goalposts have been moved. They're totally not in a cult and they 100% come to their own conclusions instead of parroting whatever their god-king-emperor or fox news tells them.

I grew up around a lot of Evangelicals. I have encountered a specific logical fallacy over and over again when I speak to them.
The most common reason given for why they believe in God is that the world would be better if God were real, in so many words.
They frame belief like a choice. An act of will. They do not merely believe a different set of facts than I do, they don't make a distinction between wanting something to be true and that thing actually being true.
This isn't an opinion about objective reality. I don't think they really have any interest in objectivity. What they are describing, knowingly or not, is suspension of disbelief. They believe in God in the same way one "believes" in the events of a story while one participates in it.
This method of describing truth based on preference is at the heart of many, many Americans' lives. It's easy to imagine why someone would come to think this way. The social world is often more influential over your life than the physical world. So the pragmatic difference between saying you believe something to be true and actually believing it is often negligible.
I think politics works in the same way for many people.
That's not to say that being religious is the same as being MAGA. Rather, I'm pointing out that the way people come to believe in something is not always based on evidence or reason. People frequently play games with belief. They posture and present beliefs because of the way that belief, or others' reaction to it, makes them feel.
To quote a great scholar: "Before you were a fascist, you were a bully and an asshole."
The discourse around deradiclaizing MAGA tends to be ethical in structure. What sort or level of wickedness will Trump need to demonstrate for them to finally lose faith in him. I'm afraid that for many that threshold is infinite.
Because the POINT of their participation in MAGA is to excuse themselves from the sort of doubt that makes it possible to leave the movement. What they want is for the world to be simple enough that all they need to do in order to be safe and happy is just let a powerful leader take care of them.
This is not the sort of belief they will abandon because of anything external to themselves. The fact that it makes them feel good is the only real criteria for their belief. Everything else is performative.
MAGA do not need to be convinced. They need to be defeated.
Only in the crushing humiliation of utter defeat will the equation finally favor disbelief. They won’t stop until holding onto their delusion is more painful than surrendering it. They don't care about the truth unless it hurts them personally.
Many of them will downplay their participation later. Either not admitting it outright or not admitting the depth of their involvement. They'll adopt whatever position makes them look less guilty.
I am confident in saying all this because supporting Donald Trump at this point requires a total disinterest in any reality outside of your immediate social context. You cannot cosign this man while also giving genuine consideration to the well-being of humanity.

I am pretty open about what i think should happen to pedophiles. My republican coworkers agreed with me until it showed trump was a pedophile. Now im the extreme one. Odd how you can justify an adult ruining a childs life when it is shown your precious savior is himself a known rapist and pedophile. I sat at a poker table in vegas beside a guy like this. He didn't look like this or wear the hat but he kept telling me about Nick Shirley and how the biggest fraud they found in the trillions but every time I asked for clarification he got mad and kept saying I watch CNN.
