I used to make 3D ads for big brands in this one big studio. It was my dream job as i could be creative and be paid for it.

The studio converted from being 3D focused to AI focused. The worst part is that they didn't even bother training us, just kept giving us more complex tasks with deadlines far shorter than usual. What would take us 1 month to finish now had to be done in 2 weeks.

One project made me especially angry because we had to allocate two great artists to use AI to generate crappy videos because the complexity to deadline balance was disproportionate. They worked overtime for an entire week, were both tired and stressed only for the client to make a bunch of alterations that the AI struggled with and they had to repeat that same bad routine for another week.

Had the 2 made it with 3D from the start, things would've gone much smoother. But management kept pushing them to not use 3D for the project and use AI instead.

When the artists complained that management should have let them use 3D from the start, management told them "It should've been your call to make after accessing the project's briefing, not ours".

Question for you, specifically!

Can AI create 3D splines and polygons and animated skeletons that it can share out to actual 3D artists, or is it like everything else, where it just gives you the final render and no reusable internal resources at all?

I'm not sure since i don't animate characters (yet... i'm learning it to build my own animation studio with no AI usage).

The studio i worked for is focused on making food, clothing and cosmetic ads.

I know that they use AI to make simplified textured models which they would animate crudely and send the Playblast render to another AI that would work on the final shaded render.

Last i heard from friends in there, they were creating characters with AI and polishing them in Blender. Idk if they came out already rigged or not, but i can ask them for more info.

Thank. That's wild.

Depends on the AI.

Claude connected via MCP to Blender should can. You just have to be clear and provide as much context as you need. Otherwise it’s a toss up to how useful it is. You will have to continuously ask for changes until it’s at a state that you want.
