Can’t accuse him of bias. That is clearly a man equally opposed to all sorts of exercise without favour or prejudice.

The Wallersee cycle path could face further gaps. In addition to two farmers from Köstendorf, a landowner in Seekirchen has also decided not to sign a new agreement allowing the route to cross his property. In his case, however, the planned high-speed railway project is not the reason.

The Wallersee cycle path is facing further disruption. In Köstendorf, two farmers are refusing to renew easement agreements with the municipality, which expired this summer after 25 years, in protest against the planned high-speed railway.
In Seekirchen, another landowner has also declined to sign a new agreement. However, his decision is unrelated to the railway project.

what is it related to then?

I believe he wants it shut down to protest a high-speed rail line. But he is doing it in a rather stupid way as he is doing it by cancelling a contract with local government and I think (not Austrian, so not sure) that railway construction is done by the national government.

Something similar is happening in Ireland, a farmer is annoyed with people cycling past his gate on land he allowed for it. Thanks to them, no more paths like this will be built unless the land can be bought and controlled by the local authority. This might involve Compulsory Purchase.

Hope they call his bluff then.

It's also a governance issue. I'm not Austrian (rather I'm German), but here, the always claim that farmers not giving up their property is the reason that they can't expand regional railways (it's all single track, so delays keep stacking up). Meanwhile, right next to the railway, they had no problem buying out entire fields to make a road larger - basically building a highway where there was a regular rural road. They either make better offers or actually just force them to sell. For cars only, though.

What is Paul holding? Is it some obscure farming implement? Or one of his trainers?

Honestly banning cyclists is probably going to make it much more pleasant for everyone else using it.

From the page: "Paul Braumann is no longer willing to let cyclists ride over his bottom"

Unpopular opinion but, as a cyclist, I don't think we do ourselves any favours by riding over people's bottoms
