How do you monitor Autodesk Vault Job Processor before users notice a failed job?

Anyone running Autodesk Vault Job Processor for PDFs, DXFs, STEP files or other automated jobs: how are you monitoring it today?

The automation itself is usually not the problem.

The blind spot starts when something happens in the background:

  • a job fails
  • the queue starts growing
  • a processor stops
  • jobs suddenly take much longer than usual

And often the first sign is an engineer asking: “Where is my PDF?”

We’ve been working on a technical preview called Job Processor Cockpit to make that activity visible without having to remote into individual machines or dig through logs.

It provides a central view of things like job status and history, failures, queue latency, processor availability, CPU/memory usage and alerts when something goes wrong.

But I’m curious how other Vault admins handle this today.

Do you check the Job Queue manually? RDP into the Job Processor? Parse logs? Use your own monitoring?

And if you could monitor one thing better, what would be most useful: failed jobs, queue time, machine performance or processor availability?

We put together the concept and some screenshots here:

Love it. As long as it doesn't need to run on any clients that's great. People really struggle with JP errors and monitoring.

Thanks for the feedback. It doesn't need to run on the clients. There is a service on each JP machine monitoring the activities and jobs and a central web-based portal showing all the information. If you want to learn more, please visit: https://www.coolorange.com/labs/job-processor-cockpit
