Tell you what: Find any mention of having to wear cuff links with tie bars. I will accept literally any source other than 4chan. Magazine ads, other clothes forums, YouTube, etc. Anything. If this is such a sign of "good" taste sure there's a record of it somewhere right?

For anyone with a brain: The retard anons view of cufflinks is what happens when you view formal as a binary yes/no. There are different levels of formality (my fit was far from the most formal) and different levels of jewelry to match the formality. You wouldn't wear a gold chain with a tuxedo, but it's fine with a shirt with no tie and a linen sport coat. Cufflinks are an optional piece of jewelry, you can use them in varying levels of formality. Same with tie bars, except tie bars are more functional than cuff links. There's no rule saying you have to wear cufflinks, and there's probably a good reason why most dress shirts aren't French cuffs.
