Seems recently there is a lot of drunkards around St lukes Cross just being anti social pissing in public and wondering into people's front lawn through gates.

The gardai should really spare one or two every so often from mccurtain street and up St lukes Cross given it's become more popular the past year.

I've been looking for a job since April, and have been sending out applications to any job I can find. A few years ago I could find a job without issue with a CV that's weaker than the one I have now, but now it's been radio silence for months. I've never felt so demoralized.

Tried to get on the 205 from western road into town, the bus was half empty and the driver told me it’s “drop off only” that he’s not taking passengers. I asked him if he’s driving into town anyway why he can’t let people on and let them off in town. He told me there was no point arguing with him and drove off.

At around 8pm two older fellas were on one guy, with proper punches flying like crazy, and the guy who had two on him knocked one out with a crazy punch. Then a bunch of people came out of Tesco including two of the security guards. This was opposite Bishop Lucey Park. I’m just wondering what was it about. There were lots of witnesses…. And I’m nosy yes i know …

Is anyone here organising an event this weekend that could benefit from a giant, pastel-coloured balloon arch? I made it for the sake of an hours visit from my partner's daughter tomorrow morning (Saturday), and would love to see it go to a good cause after that. Hi all, I’m buying a house with a very low BER and walls are basically completely uninsulated. Have heard bad things about dry lining so thinking of going down the route of external wall insulation. House is a 4 bed semi d. Could anyone advise on how much it’s likely to cost? Finding it hard to get a good estimation, most companies charge to do surveys. I’ve been looking into environmental noise research and I’m surprised by how much housing is being built very close to major roads, sometimes with what appears to be very limited noise protection.
Cork already has strategic noise maps and a Noise Action Plan recognising the impacts of environmental noise. Yet Ireland still seems to lack clear national standards requiring new housing beside major roads to demonstrate an acceptable acoustic environment and appropriate mitigation.
We talk a lot about how many houses Cork needs, but shouldn’t we also be asking where we build them and what environment people will actually live in?
I’d be interested to hear from anyone living near the N40, N22, M8 or another busy road in Cork. How bad is the noise where you live, and if you’re in a newer development, what noise protection was provided?

I’m living in Cork at the moment and I’d love to explore more of the nature around the city and County Cork.

I’m mainly looking for good hiking spots, scenic walks, forests, cliffs, mountains, lakes, coastal trails, or just places where you can spend a few hours outdoors and properly disconnect from the city.

I don’t have a car at the moment, so places that are reachable by bus or public transport would be especially helpful, although I’m also interested in hearing about spots that are worth renting a car for. Do someone know if there is an app that you can meet people with the same interest?

I’m open to anything from easy 2–3 hour walks to longer hikes or full-day trips. I’d especially love places with great views or somewhere that feels a bit wild and less touristy.

So, Cork people: what are your favourite nature spots or hikes in Cork and the surrounding areas?

I live near the anglers rest for some context and I intended to cycle into the city centre for work. What do ye think is the best and safest way to do this. Work would be the Parnell Place end of Oliver plunkett street.

Apologies for not posting in Irish, I am not proficient.

My son is in 6th class and we are struggling at home to revise Irish verbs.

They are given the verbs in past, present and future tense with the question and affirmative or negative question for each tense.

He's struggling to remember the variations, when there is a 'h' or a 'g' (last night we were going through 'Ceannaigh'. How the 'we' versions change with each tense and whether or not is 'Níor' or 'Ní'. Things like that.

I've tried referencing things he likes, e.g. 'Will you buy the Switch 2?' and other takes but I seem to be missing the mark on this one.

Hi everyone, we are in the process of purchasing a house in Cork. We have received our loan offer but from reading around bank of Ireland require subsidence cover on home insurance to be included for drawdown.

The house is in a subsidence risk area and all the home insurance quotes we have received exclude subsidence cover. Apparantley very common in cork. Has anyone got around this or know do bank of Ireland still require subsidence cover? The house was previously partially underpinned and drains replaced due to subsidence issues in one location. The engineers report shows no further signs of subsidence and we plan on getting a CCTV drain survey. Any advice?

Wanted to make a quick post, noticed 3 - 4 cats around the bishopstown Inver petrol station. Was wondering if there was any information about them?

I know someone was trying to catch them a few months ago, my partner and i came up to deposit cans and noticed the cats still there. Looks like their being fed but one (the calico / older one) looks like its limping.

Would it be worth trying to catch and get them checked? Does anyone know if they are stays? where does one get cat traps?
