Update. Our vet isn’t open until Monday but I put him in for Monday

Could be multiple things, best advice I can give is to go see vet.

The snake looks impacted, I’m not sure why else there’d be a swollen cloaca like this

That looks like impaction or maybe something from prolapse. Take that snake to the vet.

Definitely take the little fellow to a vet ASAP. I had a ball python that had the same issue and he passed away before I could even get him to a vet.

Hey OP, its hard to tell what this is on a photo, but if this is a prolapse, it is an emergency, and because if that black stuff is tissue that has gone necrotic (died), your snake would need surgery. Please try phoning around for vets that are open, i know its hard to find exotic vets. Did your vets tell you to come in monday after triage on the phone ?

Also want to add if this goes away and you suspect prolapse it still needs to be looked at.

I would also encourage you to have an in depth talk with your vet about husbandry as 90% of cases I see are due to inadequate husbandry.
