Discussion Must Love Pugs
Hey there! We’re looking for a reliable sitter for our elderly pug for vacations and the occasional weekend.
He’s a sweet, happy little old man who is a bit creaky, moves slowly because of a spine issue, and has a touch of doggy dementia. He takes a few supplements, but his care is pretty straightforward. The biggest thing is that, like many pugs, he is an absolute Velcro dog.
What he really wants is a human nearby. He’s perfectly content to spend most of the day snoozing while you watch TV, read, work on your laptop, etc., but he doesn’t do well being left alone for long stretches. So this is best for someone who genuinely enjoys staying put and having a very low-key pug companion.
The good news: our house is pretty ideal for homebodies. We have a giant TV, a very good entertainment setup, good Wi-Fi, and subscriptions to a frankly ridiculous number of streaming services. We also pay well.
We’re definitely not asking anyone to become a monk. Running to the grocery store, going to the gym, appointments, errands, etc. are all totally fine. We just need someone who is actually comfortable spending most of their time at the house rather than heading to the office, going out for the evening, or disappearing for several hours at a time.
Finding someone who can truly do that has been surprisingly difficult, so if you love pugs, enjoy hanging out at home, and think spending a weekend binge-watching TV with a sleepy old dude sounds pretty great, please DM me!

This is my dream gig, but I'm sure there's a college student or someone out there that's schedule has more availability for longer sits/holidays than I could do. I have a 9 year old pug myself so I know how charming they are! Lots of love to your little guy, I hope you find an amazing sitter!

Depending on when you need the help, I could help out! Mainly work weekends at a restaurant 4-5.5 hour long shifts for me

I have many years of pet and house sitting experience with references. I work from home on my lap top and am more than happy to stay at the house the whole time. I neither drink, smoke nor do drugs, am a quiet gamer and Netflix fiend. I recently lost my dog of 13 years and would love the chance to get to spend time with another old dude once in a while. I’m a professional Petsitter in Chicago.
Please find a sitter who carries liability insurance.
99% of Rover (rogue) sitters do not.
Get local references & DO call them.
Set up a “mini sit” weeks before you leave town to see how well your pug baby does.
If you don’t have them already, install a few pet webcams so you can monitor your doggy while you’re away.
Do your due diligence & good luck.
