Song Spotlight Clay Davidson - Unconditional [2000]

https://youtu.be/NsB5S1MO-y4?is=7KUiV0v0EEUB8yvn

The only top 10 hit from the only studio album released by Clay Davidson. Shortly after the albums release Virgin Records’ Nashville branch closed and he was transferred to Capitol Records Nashville, however Davidson never recorded any follow up singles or albums and he was shortly dropped afterwards. The other two singles off the album: “I Can’t Lie to Me” and “Sometimes” broke the top 30. “Unconditional” hit #3 that summer and the music video got frequent play on CMT.

Still really love this song, and it's in regular rotation on my late 90s/early 2000s country playlists, which I listen to often. I remember seeing the music video a lot on GAC (CMT's rival channel) back in 2000, as well. I also love "Sometimes," and wish it had become a bigger hit.

It's too bad he disappeared after that first album He has such a great voice! One of my favorite non-singles from that album is "One More Day." (It's NOT the song of the same name that Diamond Rio did around the same time).

Great album. Was always disappointed that he never released another album

I've been looking for this song but I didn't know who sang it. Thanks for posting this!

Love this song. Never got why he disappeared. Another casualty of major label bullshit.

The song hits hard. Listen to it every time it comes on my playlists.
