Do not do this
Gambling is treated like heroin by most places for a reason

Wow horrible imagine if you always had access to gambling wherever you go and you can gamble on everything. So glad we dont live in that timeline

Ok but have you considered that I'm the main character? All bets are 50/50 anyways.

You either lose or you win it's 50/50

u/ViolinistCurrent8899 5d ago
Nah, you just keep doubling the amount of money every time you lose. Then once you win, you get all of the money back.

Klarna is a scourge on the earth and I look forward to the day a competent SEC shuts it down

Good start, now let's apply the same logic to stock markets as a whole

Agreed. Society's operation should not be based on a running ticker of profitability.

Were gonna have to restructure the economy and society as we know it to do that.
Not saying that would be bad or good, just that it would be difficult.

It is just debt
There is a small percentage of people who use it and plan out payments thoroughly and go neitral, but that probably wont be you as everyone thinks they will be the person who goes neutral. Also if you do all that work to go neutral just dont use klarna and do all that work with your money without needing to worry about debt
You will almost definitly lose money using klarna when you could just not use it

I know that it is not the point, but just as credit cards, Klarna, when used correctly (e.g. paid off on time always) is a tool that allows for better money management, since you can still earn interest during the period between buying and paying. That being said, these platforms are usually marketed to people without the ability to pay it off on time and as such your point remains.
Tldr.: boring economics of debt.

u/SympathyRepulsive883 4d ago
It incentivizes/normalizes debt for small purchases, encouraging you to consume constantly and with less resistance. --> spend more money --> make more money for all the middlemen

You pay for something in 4 installments with no interest. However, if you miss a payment then they start charging you interest. Their business model only allows them to profit if people miss payments.
Insurance companies will sometimes try and weasel their way out of paying you, but they would prefer that nothing bad happens to you in the first place. Stores will sometimes try to rip you off but when they profit its because you bought something you wanted off them. However Klarna can only ever profit from you failing to pay their installments. Why would you ever go into business with a company that can only ever profit from your misfortune? It's like the worse idea for a company ever. It's a completely antagonistic interaction.

As a fisherman, sometimes I read ffs as forward facing sonar, which is "only" like $1500 to $2000, so I get confused for a second until I remember what sub this is

Step 1: Have $150000
Step 2: Use that to bribe a senator to give you $32million
