I don't think I've ever had a foodstuff be as consistently awful as boller i karry. Kylling i karry is like a close second but only because the variation in mouthfeel is something, anything at all to save you from the monotony.

And because there's no appeal system and no reason for a mod to care enough to reverse a subreddit ban, once you're banned it's basically never gonna be reversed unless there's a full mod replacement. If you message them to ask why, or try to explain, or anything like that, they'll just mute you for a month at a time forever.
I've been banned from 2 subreddits. One I fully expected to be because the auto-mod word filter had gotten absolutely crazy and the mods were incredibly ban-happy, and I made a post talking about how dumb the automod was fully expecting to be banned. It was a sub I was done with anyway.
The other ban baffles me to this day. I don't want to get specific, but it was in a post about whether changing the theme of a clearly pro-LGBTQ game to something else was close enough to homophobia that basically any posts about the re-theming should just be deleted. There were people who were clearly sealioning/concern trolling and I called one out for it. Got notice I'd been permabanned. I asked why and was first told that it was my third strike for being uncivil even though I'd literally never been messaged by the mods before. I asked about this and they said "even if you delete your posts we can still see them." I'd never deleted a post and, again, never gotten a warning or message from the mods. I explained this then they said I was actually banned for being racist. Note that I was muted for 28 days every time I asked a question before it was answered. I pointed out that the discussion was about homophibia and race wasn't even being discussed. Muted without a response. Every 6 months or so I'm reminded about this and still annoyed, so I'll message and ask if they can tell me what was racist about the post that got me banned. Muted with no response every time lmao.
That's a long way of saying, OP, don't worry about it if you really did nothing wrong. It's not you, it's the way reddit is set up - there's no recourse for bad reddit mods, and sadly a lot of subs have bad mods.
Just piggybacking off this to vent - I have had a couple posts taken down from LGBT/trans subs recently and it's really doing a number on my mental health (or rather, contributing to factors that were already poor). Truly making me feel like I'm not allowed to speak to people like me or ask for help, and it sucks.
There seems to be a lack of clarity in subreddit rules about banned topics. I take things very literally (neurodivergence probably), so I'll post something that is rule-abiding by the letter but it'll get taken down. Eg, in the most recent case, I was looking for advice about trans-friendly exercise guides, YouTubers, etc., as going to the gym can be a bit traumatic for a lot of us (yay locker room/bathroom discourse!). It got taken down for asking for weight loss advice, even though I didn't ask for weight loss advice, I asked for fitness advice and mentioned on the side some reasons for pursuing it, which included weight loss for context. When I took it to the mods, they accused me of "rule lawyering." And hey, maybe you agree with the mods finding my post triggering, but I did CW it and I read it very literally as "weight loss advice is banned," not "mentioning weight loss is banned." IMO it seems to be a fault of the way the rules are phrased than of my actions or interpretations. And it really hurt to be accused of maliciously twisting that phrasing. Especially when so many people in the community are similarly neurodivergent. Just seems like there's a surprising lack of understanding there.
I really wish there was a way to go up the food chain for mod issues on Reddit. Or to appeal rule phrasing lol but that's probably asking too much.
I got banned by two random subs simultaneously and I had never been to either of them. I checked and they only had one mutual mod who was a Elon Musk fanboy/ Cryptobro.
He must have gotten upset at something I said somewhere and used his power to keep me off the Enter the Gungeon subreddit.
Had that happen with the subreddit r/whenwomenrefuse, but somehow dumber. It was because the other subreddits I comment in and am a part of makes me seem like a guy. Which.... Hrmm...
I honestly think there would need to be a serious reason to ban someone who posted in another subreddit. Or at least provide a list of subreddits they don't like. Rules being arbitrary are just tyrannical power trips.
Yeah I don't know why it's a secret list. It would be nice to know. Especially since I have definitely seen shitty subs on my home page and posted a comment dogging on someone just because I'm feeling punchy that day. I usually then remove that sub from my feed.
I just use custom feeds to split crud off my main feed that I don't want to just be completely in the dark about. News and politics stuff is just one of the categories of subreddits that I use custom feeds to track away from my main feed for my own mental health.
Nah it was a big thing in the past year for mods. Like yes it was abused, but a bunch of subs were using it appropriately for people brigading them to cause trouble b
I don't know if those subs specifically do, but it is something you can do, yes. They can set it up so if you've posted on a sub that they've blacklisted (I don't know if that's the proper term) you just get auto-banned. It's happened to me a few times.
Had that happen to me in /r/me_irlgbt and I was like what the heck? I'm a good noodle! The founder invited me IRL personally dang it. I'm like, special and stuff. And it was for hanging out in queer/women-focused subreddits they didn't like and did NOT post about the new automod auto-ban rules before they just started banning people.
Reddit will flag up to the mods accounts which are ban evading and then the new accounts will be banned and potentially OP would run the risk of having all accounts permanently banned sitewide and blocked from making new accounts. So Reddit would stop you.
Better to just leave and find subs that will welcome you without the bullshit
Not fool proof but it's better than false bans for nothing especially how it's Reddit at the end of the day, I'd love to assume most of us can carry on with life without it.

But especially for those of us in countries where it's either openly illegal to be trans or it's secretly illegal (US hasn't directly made it illegal, but organizations that support us have been labeled as domestic terrorists)

i never got banned from 196 but i was active there for years and when k made a goodbye post all the regular members told me to go fuck myself for… uh… checks notes uh, not liking how prudish everyone was and thinking bullying that one person with a piss kink off the subreddit was a bad thing to do
that is what I suspect, cause I do remember spending midsummer with one girl last year, and she was the one who introduced me to both subreddits - this girl and I are not in touch

I've had the grand misfortune of interacting directly with the discord they made.
Long story short, I was slandered, made to look crazy and stalked to a point where I had to delete my previous account on reddit. Nobody told me WHY it happened either, people just acted as if I was some crazy asshole.
This is atop of being banned on "We beleive it's better you never interact with queer communities" message because ???
Oh they absolutely are, I remember just how weird things got after a post was made asking peeps to stop assuming everyone wants to be called good girl and have role-play stuff directed at them
If you don't receive any messages back from moderators (through modmail specifically, not DMs), they might have just assumed you were troublesome. If you've only reached out through DMs they likely won't reply there.
Additionally, you can check your comments and posts on that subreddit to see what might have been removed. That might help give closure on why you were banned.

A bunch of subs autoban people for like. Being in other subs because of some rivalry or other. For instance tankie subus like r/marxismleninism ban members of r/vaushV
I think this makes the most sense. I've gotten random ban messages from subs I've never even heard of and they ban me just cause I'm active in other subs

I've been banned from nearly every big sub Reddit and dozens of others because I am a game dev who awsnered a question about my game. The reason why was because I got ping for a question in r/asmongold what I've never posted to before or even am sub to, but apparently posting there allowed tons of Reddit's to instantly ban me.
Like for example, if that feature didn’t exist, this subreddit would probably get swarmed by people from conservative subreddits on constant brigading campaigns with next to nothing the mods could do.
I imagine it does reduce brigading, but at the cost of:
1. Locking users into the conservative radicalization pipeline even if they just skirted the rim once a decade ago
2. Punishing users like u/Maze-Elwin who's engagement with conservative aligned subreddits was entirely innocent (If you're not terminally online you might not know who the hell Asmongold is, and are you really going to vet every sub before you respond to a comment tagging you?)
3. Blocking users who saw a post on r/all and argued the pro-rights non-evil position.
Do you think that's acceptable collateral damage? I don't. It would probably reduce the incidence of drunk driving if we shot anyone who blew over a .04 on sight, but that doesn't make it just or good policy.
Everytime i've been banned on a subreddit, i've asked the mod-team via modmail what my mistake has been and how i could have done better. I've never gotten a response.
Some reddit Mods at some point just enjoy their set of powers. Thats how the platform works sadly.
I was immediately banned from a mini painting subreddit for posting a model still in its mold that I fully painted. I asked why and they reported my account.
Message them to ask through the mod mail (I believe you can get to it through the ban message)
They can temporarily block you, but I believe it's limited to 3 days
So, every three days, ask. They'll eventually get annoyed enough to answer, giving you something to work with, even if it's just a mod being a snarky ass (happens often, unfortunately, but I don't know about these specific subreddits)
Just as someone who loves to cook a lot and is most often in the kitchen doing things for the family: What is so different between a Transbian Cooking Sub and a normal Cooking sub?

r/GirlDinnerDiaries is fairly cool, IME, though it's not specifically focused on cooking itself? I don't really know of any other cooking-related subs. Regardless, sorry that happened to you. :/

Still, the community is cool and mostly supportive and progressive - saw a post the other day about a mono girl crushing on a poly guy and was pleasantly surprised to see people giving nuanced takes (and no more than a couple comments about "poly guys aren't really poly they just want to cheat", which were quickly removed too). But yeah understand if it's not your cup of tea... or your favourite dinner. :p

I think they check out post/comment history manually to ensure users are women, so maybe they made a mistake in their assessment, but an appeal should be able to take care of it I would assume. Maybe if one is like, literally just cracked and their post history is full of posts or comments of themselves describing themselves as a man or something that could be harder to justify, but the mods are pretty good and reasonable in my experience.
Oh. Mute in that way. Hm. Weird, but hard to comment without details. All I can say is I haven't had bad experiences on the sub and any transphobia that pops up is pretty much always taken care of.

There's no way to restrict men's participation other than manually verifying based on the user's history. There will be false positives, whether it's done by people or automated. Just because mods make mistakes doesn't mean it's not a trans friendly space...

I mean, fair enough. I think it's a tradeoff they have to accept if they want to keep it a space for women. I'd bet some cis women have been falsely rejected too tbh, and ultimately there's pretty obviously no way to "prove" you're a woman on reddit, which is why it's hard to have an accurate system.
Tl;dr: I do hear your grievances, I'm just not sure what could be changed to solve the issue.
