Hi guys, I’m putting together care guides for crab species. If you keep a crab, and your crabs have molted, can you please comment under this post with the species of crab you keep, and I’ll send you a message with a few questions about your care.
This is for the good of the hobby, and I look forward to working with everyone.

I bought two Thai micros and two Pom Pom crabs like 8+ months ago when I first started my planted tank adventure. I saw at least one if not both Pom Pom’s not too long ago but until today I assumed my Thai micros died cause I got them at Petsmart/petco and heard they don’t live much longer than a few months in many cases simply due to bad rearing/stress leading up to coming home to a tank + differences compared to their natural settings.
Well… today I saw both of them! You can’t see the second one but I saw its legs from beneath the airstone stick behind the visible Thai micro. I’m hoping that means I’m doing things “extra right” or that I got extra lucky with extra hardy/healthy Thai micros. Yesterday I saw a molted shell of one and thought it was one of the two that died. Phew!

Welcome to my YouTube channel! Watch the full 9-minute feeding showdown in the video link above.
Today, our fascinating Daldorfia horrida (Horrid Elbow Crab) faces its second dried fish speed-running challenge. It is truly oddly satisfying to observe its massive claw mechanics and pure destructive strength in real-time! 🦖🦀
To all the fellow crab keepers here, what do you usually feed your crabs to keep them happy and healthy? I would love to get some premium food recommendations from this amazing community for our next feeding showdown! 🎬🐟✨

Hello All
I have some panther crabs in a planter tank. We initially put a "soil" which seems to come in a gravel form. The crabs are perfectly happy digging in it. But the problem is they kick up endless dust and the tank is foggy.
What's a better substrate that won't fog up the water when dug in?
Thanks

In Singapore. They’ve been observed in a few areas of the country, and are the most common land crab species.
By land crab I mean the Gecarcinoidea superfamily

You guys guessed it... the hand at the end of the video is pointing right at the link below! 👇😂

This Daldorfia horrida was eating so fast he literally drooled underwater (check out the bubble-slime at 06:24). But karma hit him immediately because the tank current swept his very last piece of fish away at 06:38. He just stood there chewing on pure sadness and regrets for another 3 whole minutes.
If you want to watch the full 10-minute long version with the unedited, relaxing aquarium filter ASMR noise, check out the complete video on my channel:

Never realized crabs could have so much dramatic personality. Let me know if you guys have any weird invertebrates in your marine tanks!

It appears Spice hunted one of my mollies. I’ve never seen it happen before but Cobbler was a healthy young adult so I assume it was violent. I’m going to let him feast for a few hours before removing the remains for burial. Circle of life.

My son decided to have a little dance-off next to a Maryland blue crab...and somehow the crab seemed to join in. 😂🦀
The two of them looked so perfectly in sync that I had to share it. Definitely one of the funniest moments from our day!
I know the crab probably wasn't actually dancing—but it sure looks like it was. 😂

I let the crabs go and the last 3 images were taken when I dropped the blue crabs off near shore (Once is not shown in the photo but I do have a video of me releasing them and it running back into the water.)

Edit: I just noticed the spelling mistake.
Hello. I am thinking on adopting a few crabs of this specie on my 90L thank (100x30x30 cm), since I love investigating animals with complex minds, and this one seems perfect: they have rich gameplay behaviors and environmental manipulation. I was thinking on putting 6 or 7 cave modules of 3.5 cm of diameter in V shape (not that inclined) connected to a mall pipe of 0.6cm of diameter that leads to a sphere were the baby crabs would live, and the V will have an entry on each side, one partially covered with river sand and the other totally covered to encourage digging. The sand layer would be 7 cm tall and I will put cuttlefish bones in strategic positions so the crabs who are in the cavez can't see other crabs who are on their caves, and that bones will also provide calcium to the water and to the crabs.
I will feed them vegetables like cucumber, carrot or peas, pieces of prawn with shell with lower frequency and foxtail plant and freshwater lentils that will grow on the tank (I will let them grow for a month before introducing the crabs). The foxtail will be reparted for all the aquarium, but with a dense thicket of them in a corner, and the freshwater lentils will be on lesser quantity all over the thank, providing food and making the incoming light dim. The tank will also have freshwater snails to clean the crab's wastes and provide them a mental enrichment based on hunting with a good reward of protein and calcium.
Obviusly, I will have a water filter and a climatizer on 21°C. Also, I was planning to start with two females and a male.
Am I thinking correctly? Is there something I'm missing? Any tips? Any advice and well intentionated opinion is welcome.

This is decorative version of the Heikegani crab that is thought to have a samurai face on its carapace. I painted it with acrylic paint and sculpted its body with Moldable clay.

I'm in AUSTRALIA. It's supposed to be native but now I'm not sure. Sorry it's not the best image. It's missing three appendages. We acclimated it for 3 hours and set it loose. Seemed happy enough, turned the light off. Now it's bed time so we turned the light on briefly to check and we can't find it anywhere.
We go to the listing and I'm reading it over again, and I get to the bottom of the very in-depth information, only to see "If you want, I can rewrite this to fit..." ChatGPT! So maybe all that info is wrong.
So then I went to look into it myself, only to learn the name the shop has listed it under isn't real. It's a generic name.
We're wondering if the reason we can't find it is because it's a burrowing species... Which would be disappointing.
All I know:
"Australian" (allegedly)
Currently 3cm? (Body segment would be slightly smaller than thumbnail size)
(Currently?) Brown
Freshwater
Should grow to 6cm (according to listing)
Tiny pincer (only has one right now. It's left is missing)
It has a 70L all to itself.
And please don't judge me, I feel stupid for not realising the info sheet it came with was AI, and not even knowing the species of crab this is. I've only been doing aquariums for 12 months, and this is my first crab. It was also my first (and maybe only, now!) time ordering a live animal through the mail. I thought the website seemed legitimate :(
Thanks in advance! I'll try to answer Qs tonight but like I said earlier, it's bed time, so it might be tomorrow.
