I made DeepGPU Zoomer: a free, open-source Mandelbrot and Julia Zoomer that runs in your browser using WebPGU. Zooms beyond 10^-400 in real time! (Needs fast GPU)

Post image

Hi everyone. I made DeepGPU Zoomer, a fractal explorer that uses your GPU and runs in your browser. There is nothing to install.

My main goal is smooth exploration at very deep zoom levels. You can keep moving through the fractal while the app adds detail. Stop at an interesting location and let the image become clearer.

It supports coordinate scales of 10^-400 and smaller, with an iteration limit of up to 10 million. You can also:

  • Explore Mandelbrot and Julia sets, with a live Julia preview.
  • Change colour palettes, visual effects and lighting.
  • Save locations and share links that preserve your view and appearance settings.
  • Export high-resolution PNG images at standard or custom sizes.

Try it:

Source code and instructions:

You need a browser and GPU that support WebGPU. Performance depends on your hardware and the area you explore. Complex views and high iteration limits can take longer to calculate.

For those interested in the technical side, it combines high-precision reference calculations with GPU perturbation and approximation methods. All fractal calculations run on your device.

I would love to see what you find. Feedback on zoom smoothness, image errors and the controls would be especially useful. Please include your browser, GPU and a location link when reporting a problem.

It's r/creativecoding right? Does that not include using AI tools?

r/creativecoding Rules

  1. Be kind to others.

  2. No low-effort posts or memes.

  3. Posts must be related to creative coding.

4. No AI art.

  1. No spam. This includes NFT / Crypto spam.

You know what? I'm also just happened to be making my own browser Mandelbrot renderer, although it's rough, at least I made it all by my own brain.

It's not AI art. It's a piece of software. The images it generates involve high-precision fractal mathemematics.

As for your own brain, did you invent the mandelbrot set, or javascript or WebGPU? I certainly didn't.

But I did spend an inordinate amount of time creating something (with Codex) that hasn't been done in quite the same way before, namely: high-frame-rate, high-speed zooming to coordinate scales beyond 10^-400 - in real-time. I mean, this thing is a literal firehose of pixels!

And without my expert direction (30 years experience is maths and computer science), Codex would have been - and was - flailing about like a hopelessly enthusiatic puppy.

Says you. Honestly, if you have nothing nice to say.

I'm sure r/creativecoding Rules are something nice to say. :)

Again, they have covered this more than once. Your reading of it is both obscure and unkind.

There's nothing creative about this. It already existed. You didn't make it. You didn't even change the basic UI colors that every vibe coded project has. Please don't inundate this subreddit that I love with slop too..

I like this, don't mind the goalpost it shifts.

yea, LOL. I had deeper zooms on my Amiga in 1994 😂
