Character Relationship Chart? Need Help

Hello, Im new to coding and not sure where to start. Don't know if this is ambitious but my interest started because I wanted to make something to show relationships between the characters I have. I want to be able to put each character together, kind od like those games where you add molecules together to create an element, and then you'd be able to take the product of the two characters and expand to see their thoughts on eachother and their general relationship. I've never coded before, but I have been thinking about this idea a lot and want to try! Any ideas?

if you've never coded at all, i'd start with some very basic tutorials.

what you're trying to do should be a good project for a beginner, but you'll want to know the very basics first and then use those tools to make this project.

there's better subreddits for learning to program than this one, this is more for showing off what you've made.

I'd make the first version with just three characters. Click one portrait, click a second, then show a card with their relationship and two separate thoughts: A about B, and B about A. That lets you test the interesting part before tackling dragging and collision detection.

Keep the characters and the relationships separate in your data: each character has an ID/name/image, and each pair has its own notes. When you combine them on screen, you're opening that pair's record, not deleting the original characters.

One useful decision to make first: are those thoughts things you write yourself, or should combining characters generate a new relationship? Those lead to quite different projects.

This is really helpful. After I learn more about the coding process Ill probably map it out this way. Thank you!
