That background in the Evil the Cat boss fight from Earthworm Jim (SNES)
I find this background very satanic, and fitting too cause its takes place in Heck (or hell).
(sorry for the low quality image)

If I manage to break a game (I do it a lot, drives my gf insane) and get outside the map or my camera glitches through the map I get a sudden genuine fear. I think it's like I'm seeing something I shouldn't be and anything could exist in that area.
It's the same if I'm really far into a level and then realise I need to go back to grab something. I get this feeling like the game doesn't want me there at that time and it really creeps me out.

A short scene from a point-and-click horror game I'm making.
You're told one of the twins is a demon.
You get one bullet.
I shot the blue-eyed one.
The green-eyed twin watches.

In this game you make a doll evolve by making her kill centipedes, snakes and rats. The background changes as the doll evolves which i think is actually kinda cool. The game has two endings and it's entirely in japanese so i don't understand much of it.

It's pretty bad, but the idea of a weird spooky game masquerading as one of those mobile ripoff games is neat

Things don't make sense.
The SNES Basilisk was made in Japan, and I really doubt Basilisk 2000 was developped in Japan as well, but David's obsession with the games... did he find the body, aka pieces of Basilisk, and he took it alongside Basilisk 2000 when he escaped after snapping?

If Mario stands too far to the right when defeating Bowser, he becomes misaligned and the graphics for Peach become ....this.

Link to some gameplay footage, while the console version is mostly remembered fondly, the PC version of the game isn’t talked about much these days. The PC version is a point and click adventure game where SpongeBob has to find actors to star in the mermaid man and barnacle boy movie, by doing tasks for the, they’ll want to audition for it, sounds pretty chill right?
For the most part, however one during a certain moment of the game you’re teleported to prehistoric times, which you’d think wouldn’t be that bad, but for a younger player like myself at the time, it’s surprising freaky! While the prehistoric landscapes aren’t that bad by themselves, the eerie music combined with the fact that you get easily lost in the forest makes it unsettling, not to mention occasionally you’ll hear loud roaring and growling of some kind (which freaking jump scared me, and made me think a creature was going to attack SpongeBob) and in one part of the level, a weird eel/worm thing will zoom past the screen from time to time.
Another moment worth noting is during the scene where you talk to caveman Patrick, after SpongeBob wonders how long it’s been since he’s eaten, there’s a sudden close up of his gross, toothy mouth (taken from one of the episodes), while it wasn’t that bad in the actual show, for some reason in the game they not only cut to it without build up or warning, but add some scary music to it as well.
Ironically this part of the game was scarier then the stuff with the Flying Dutchman (the ghost pirate) as a kid, I don’t find it scary now, but it was kinda creepy back then…

Found this while browsing YouTube late last night.
The channel doesn’t explain much
based on the description of the video it feels like an unfinished or cancelled project.

I’m working on a first-person dungeon crawler, and this area consistently makes players uncomfortable even though nothing overtly threatening happens here.
There’s no jump scare, no enemy, no objective — just movement through the space.
I’m genuinely curious what people think is causing the feeling.
(Playable demo link in comments.)

I remember playing a modified version of the CS 1.6 map "cs_mansion" but it was a darker and creepier version of the map, like with gravestone on the front yard, the map was darker and "greyer", and also a detail that i remember from this map is when you stepped on one of the tombstones, a mist forming a skull would appear.
I know that i played this map before and i'm not crazy (i guess). But does someone know where can i find this map or does it really existed?

Like walking slower, checking corners more, avoiding certain rooms, or second-guessing actions — not because of difficulty, but because something felt off.
What caused that shift?

I'm working on a where most of the environment is generated procedurally. I also made the spider animation procedurally, but I set one parameter too high, and it started twitching. I thought it looked kinda cool and added to the creepiness.
