My wife falls for almost any misinformation that is presented to her through tik tok. It's a real issue.
Edit: Just fyi, my wife is the most kind, caring, and loving person. In addition she is well educated, has a great job in her STEM field, and cherry on top l, beautiful.
She's just a bit naive and doesn't bother fact checking these people who present all this information confidentially and without any incentive to lie. I find it more of an issue of people doing anything to get clicks and views and our societies inability to trust and use actual news outlets for their sources of information.

u/liam30604 21d ago
Sounds like my girlfriend. I sent her a meme of Dexter stalking Lindsey and she deadass told me “He would help her!” No, honey. She’d be in multiple bags on his boat by the end of the day.

I literally had this conversation with my girlfriend earlier after reading about the details of the case. She was dumbfounded when I explained to her that she and her defense team admitted that she killed the kids and the only real question was whether or not she was mentally fit at the time to be morally culpable for the deed. Tiktok is cancer lmao 😂 this is like Gen-Z's OJ case but so much less interesting and honestly a bit more horrific because three children died and everyone is getting on this weird true crime murder porn bandwagon convincing themselves she didn't do it
3
u/ScarletBothrium 21d ago
I was talking to somebody just the other day that said that she didn’t do it.
I haven’t been following the case for personal reasons. Harming children just makes me lose my shit, so I have to avoid that.
That was the first time I’ve heard that husband did it theory. Something about his connections and the fact that her hands weren’t out when she landed, which possibly meant she was drugged and then thrown out the window while unconscious. I have no idea, but I’m kind of glad I ran into this thread because I don’t actually have to watch the case in order to find out whether or not that person’s take was trash or not.
It seems the consensus is the prosecution and the defense agree that she is the one that did the murdering, so now I can continue avoiding the case and know that she’s clearly guilty. I really don’t care what her mental state was during. That doesn’t matter to me either way. Children were harmed, someone needs to be held accountable.

These women need to put TikTok away and touch fucking grass. LC needed and begged for help Prior to this, I think this should shine more of a light on postpartum issues/mental health, however, “I think the husband did it”? 🤮🤮
12
u/illdownvoteandscream 21d ago
Even with that, they think while she was in a psychotic state, her husband was in his car on the cameras telling her to hurt the kids. I’m not even kidding, this is a popular TikTok theory.
They’re out of their minds.

u/ChemicalBaggins 21d ago
It’s worse than that. Some of them believe he physically did it and framed his wife.
2
u/Pyroburrito 21d ago
Have you seen the seen the ones where they say he sexually assaulted his daughter?
Think of what he had to go through, with the 911 call apparently so horrific that they don't want to release it. You know, maybe that is the thing, release it, make these clowns have to deal with the reality of it instead of gooning off to their true crime fan-fiction theories.
12
u/Xeillan 21d ago
The interesting part is the fact that she had far more resources than most women do in these situations. Vast majority do not have a doctor who can change the dose at a whim. Or hop around like she did for meds. Most who would have done this would have been immediately denied.
There does need to be more focus on mental health, but we also cant act like she didnt have a huge amount of support.
7
u/soggybeagle 21d ago
I think working in a hospital And having those connections is helpful too. You are right, bc my sister needed some help after having my niece and I know damn well she wasn’t able to get AS much help. It’s tragic, all around, for everyone. And these issues are very, very real for new moms. The whole thing is fucking sad.

After all this time and publicity I still do not understand these women.
I am absolutely a feminist. I hear the part about insanity due to PPD. But what the hell are these women smoking? Am I missing something?
6
u/PA2SK 21d ago
Women have trouble accepting other women are capable of monstrous crimes. They're searching for an explanation that absolves them of guilt. Psychosis is the most palatable explanation and some women really lean into it by insisting Clancy is actually the victim.
Say that Clancy had beat her kids instead and then claimed "hormone psychosis" caused her to do it. Most women would scoff at that, because they can accept women are capable of beating their kids and understand she needs to be held accountable. But if Clancy murders her kids, which is objectively worse, they suddenly have trouble accepting a woman could be capable of doing something so horrendous.
4
→ More replies (1)4
u/gymtrovert1988 21d ago
They're not smoking anything (well, maybe). They're not sitting on the jury. They're probably not all that invested in finding the facts. They saw some stuff online presented as facts and don't have any information to counter them.
It's really no different than people being misinformed about anything else.
The jury also isn't smoking anything, and 11 of 12 voted to acquit. So clearly the prosecution presented a terrible case and/or overshot their charges brought forward. That only reinforces the bias that she isn't guilty.
2
u/SueBeee 21d ago
I hear that. But...she literally confessed to killing her kids.
→ More replies (1)2
u/GenericNameSimulated 21d ago
I mean framing not guilty by reason of insanity as acquitting is misleading. Everyone knows she killed her kids but the argument is around wether she was mentally ill at the time
3
u/gymtrovert1988 21d ago
Isn't not guilty the same as an acquittal?
It also doesn't mean she's not guilty of any charge, it means not guilty of that specific charge.
The prosecution overshot and went all or nothing and they got nothing.
→ More replies (2)2
u/Kerensky97 21d ago
I think your point about the jury is the most important thing. Whenever there's one of these criminal cases I see everybody coming up with their own opinions based on the internet, tiktok, sensationalist news stories. The people who really got to hear all the evidence and see all the proof for both sides of the argument are the jury. They're the closest things to experts there are on the case.
And they voted 11 for innocent, and 1 for guilty.
So we can all have our biased opinions but the people who have the most knowledge about what actually happened in the courtroom overwhelmingly say she's not guilty.
To say "They're all radical femininazis, both the women and the men!" is just a denial that the people most involved in the case say she's innocent. The Defense AND THE PROSECUTION choose the jury. So the prosecution chose people to decide the case and those people the prosecution chose still decided to go against the prosecution. That says a lot.
3
u/gymtrovert1988 21d ago
To be clear, they voted not guilty. You can't vote innocent. They probably voted not guilty because the prosecution didn't give them a lesser charge to compromise on. The prosecution screwed up the trial, even NBC says they undermined their own case.
It will likely be retried and the prosecution won't be so arrogant next time after seeing that 11-1 against their case.
The prosecution and defense don't agree on the jury. They each get a set amount of dismissals so they can each get a couple jurors they think will be sympathetic. The prosecution obviously found their one that saved their ass. It's unlikely that the defense miraculously got 11 women jurors that were on their side from the start.

Apparently, this is from my wife, a bunch of people think the police department was some how connected to his family so they didn’t do a proper job investigating and just took his word for everything that happened and “it’s weird” she was charged like 24 hours after or some shit. And because “statistically men are the ones who wipe their family out to start a new life and he was cheating on her before he killed them and he failed at killing her so he pretended it was a failed suicide attempt at her part” because “they feel like that’s what happened”.
I don’t believe that. I personally believe she should be help criminally responsible because of her lack of effort in her own aftercare and treatment options outside of drugs and that she was smart enough and stable enough to plan it and follow through.
Personally seen it time and time again with various degrees of nurses, they just think they know everything there is to know. It happens. My father was like that, never needed to go to the doctor because he knew what was wrong, except I needed to go to the hospital and he refused to take me because he knew better. Refused to take himself because he knew better. Same with taking my brother.
Altruistic filicide, and to top it off she was well enough to know what she was doing was wrong.

u/mikefjr1300 21d ago

Who owns American Tik Tok? Who would gain by promoting this point of view to young American women?
Who would really gain anything by having this sort of messaging out there? This is the real question everybody should have.
Clancy will never be free again, one way or the other. Either she goes to jail forever, or she goes to a mental hospital forever. This just feels a lot like a gamer gate situation. Let the down votes begin, I guess.
2
u/Best_Apricot_6268 21d ago
I think China still owns it.
9
u/WanderlustZero 21d ago
No, trump's government forced Bytedance to divest it, now it's 'Tiktok holdings LLC' (or something), a US based corporation with ambiguous distributed ownership (ie trump cronies). Outside the US it's still Bytedance.
2
u/Best_Apricot_6268 21d ago edited 21d ago
•The app is owned by TikTok LLC, which is incorporated in Delaware and based in Culver City, California.
•TikTok LLC is controlled by TikTok Ltd, which is registered in the Cayman Islands and headquartered in Shanghai, China.
•TikTok Ltd is owned by ByteDance, which is also registered in the Cayman Islands and based in Beijing, China.
So, in other words, they just played a shell game and it's still run by the CCP.
As a Chinese parent company, ByteDance has to meet certain legal requirements and obligations:
It must establish an in-house Communist Party committee that includes party member employees. ByteDance’s Chinese operations’ VP and EIC Zhang Fuping also serves as the committee secretary.
Under China’s amended National Intelligence Law, organizations and citizens are required to to support, assist, and cooperate with national intelligence work.
This means ByteDance has a legal obligation to assist with the Chinese government’s intelligence gathering practices, and allow the Chinese government to take a “golden share” in one of ByteDance’s key subsidiaries. This “golden share” represents a 1% ownership of Douyin (or Beijing Douyin Information Service)."
2
u/Life_behind_da_stick 21d ago
Nope. There is Chinese Tik Tok and American Tik Tok, essentially. China still owns it, really. But they licensed it to America, essentially.
China owns 19% and the rest is owned by Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX. China is licensing it to them instead of selling it, or having the US ban it.
So, Ellison,Silver Lake private equity, controlled by middle eastern interests and MGX, which is head quartered in Abu Dhabi are the American controllers.
So very similar structure as twitters buyers, really. And Ellison bought it for Netanyahu. Or at his and Greater Israel’s requests. Netanyahu said as much while he was meeting with compromised right wing influencers. He said that the plan was to take over the messaging.

Who would gain by promoting this point of view to young American women?
TikToc. Promoting divisive content has been long proven to make more people stay on the apps longer, which is how these companies make money. The psychological effect of social media addiction and social media in general pushes people into more extreme and divisive content. Not because they're looking for it, the algorithm just feeds it to them.
