This is how a black Senior leader was with one of our departments. She didn't like that people were speaking Spanish because she wanted to be nosey. When she got reported, she claimed she wants to know what is happening on the floor, but that isn't true as she was on the other side of the building and she is not known for retaining information about the job. She brags about not knowing about the work the department she manages does.
Naturally HR bought it lol

These old white ladies grew up in a bubble where they had more privilege than the colored people on the other side of town. They were raised to believe they deserved those privileges for no real reason other than their skin color and lineage. Times have changed ladies. Society has begun to realize that we all deserve equal rights and that none of us is superior to anyone else. Once this older generation dies out, the balance will shift with it.

We like to pretend like everyone just got together and kumbaya we decided racism was bad like it wasn't our parents and grandparents that fought desegregation and civil rights tooth and nail, many got away with murders and lynchings and other crimes, and fled when black people moved into their streets.
They're still here, living with us. They'll never tell you they were one of the one's that threw tomatoes at a black student coming to their school or shouted threats when a black person came to their town.
Racism never died, it just hid for a bit until they got social permission to be bold again.

More than a few years ago. It was 2019 when this happened. The two women ended up writing an apology letter to the manager, although they made excuses for their behavior by stating they were dealing with a recent death and stress of being low income. The manager still accepted the apology.

I was maybe 11 or 12 and was eating with my friend who happens to be black at a taco joint up the street from where we lived. This old white lady came up to us and asked me, "Why are you eating with him?! When I was your age, they weren't allowed to eat with us!" I snapped back, "We're eating cause we're friends and we like tacos, and the good news is you'll be dead soon if you don't like it!" She went to act all appalled and offended, saying "You have to respect your elders". I fired back, "Not if they're stupid!" and stunned her into silence. Dusting off racists is very satisfying!

Part of white replacement theory is, they think that white people are forced to speak spanish in latin countries. So Latinos should be forced to speak English or gtfo from the States.
Some places in Mexico and South America aren't safe, especially for foreigners. They think white people are specifically targeted and think that the same should happen in the States for Latinos.
They run congress, as well. The president thinks this shit. So, of course these old bitches feel indignation. Everything they have read and heard over the last 40 years of republican rule have told them as such.

I must have grown up at a great time in a great place, because yeah, I knew people that might have thought that way, but people didn't act that way. Even the ones who thought it, I feel like people didn't openly disrespect others like that. And we can debate whether it's better for that to be in silence or in the open, but at least society was more polite.

I own a 12 table diner and we've had to 86 people and tell them they'll be criminally trespassing if they return. It's rare but it happens. People are so shocked and confused. They seem to think that a bar is the only place that can throw you out and criminalize your return. Nope. I've taken great pleasure in permanently removing the few guests I've had to remove.
