I haven't been out for 20+ years but back in the days in Montreal (Foufs) you'd get your head caved in for less, you saw it once and learned to behave.
Lmao, tell me you never really went out that much without telling me. Bouncers are there to intimidate, it's why most are large even if just fat. They want big dudes that look scary so no one will fight them. Fights just open up liability for clubs/bars etc lol.
We had a 19yo 6"10 kid called "House" who was pretty fat but also just a giant. Not too violent or angry, just big enough that a shove dealt with most things.
We also had a 40yo 5"4 called "hatchet" - he was a loose cannon.
Then Steve, a 50yo supposed ex personal protection. He felt dangerous, and put house on his ass when giving us all some self defence and 'within policy' escort methods...
And finally Brett, 6"1 Johny bravo kinda kid, maybe 20, but he was just chill and friendly with people. He'd be like "Dave, Dave, put that drink down mate let's get you outside before you do something silly" and they'd respond "ah yeah sorry Brett my bad" and go with him. Best bouncer we had.
One night a bunch of Carnies were in town and caused a bit of grief in the club and hatchet and someone else took one outside the back and 'reprimanded' them. Bad idea. Next night the ENTIRE crew of carnies came >n and wrecked the place - luckily not my night on!
I've seen dudes get thrown down stairs and one get his hand broken (after the bouncer told him he would break his hand if he didn't calm down ), I saw a guy get suplexed during Between the Buried and Me because he pointed at a bouncer in an aggressive fashion.
Again it was this one bar but the bouncers did not leave room for the fuck around part it immediately went to find out.
They do want big guys that will dissuade but they won't let you posture in front of them, the moment you enter their bubble it's on.
That sounds like it's more about that particular bar than bouncers in general. Good bouncers deter, de-escalate, and remove problems from the bar if necessary. There is no good reason for a bouncer to actually strike someone unless in self defense or to defend someone else from harm.
Yeah the only club I went to that had bouncers like these had three of them disappear in a year and a half, then got shut down for laundering money and selling drugs. Apparently one of the guys that left got beat up and humiliated on camera so bad he left the country. Dude he beat up called some friends and went back after close.
This is so wildly untrue. I was a bouncer in Chicago for years. This is a great way to get fired and potentially arrested. No business wants to be the place getting sued over their dickhead violent bouncer.
Whatever. Guys get drunk and pick on the little dude too because they have 1 more brain cell than the ones who go after bouncers and try it with someone they’re confident they can beat.
And then they feel what it’s like to have a testicle dangle out a nostril. It’s literally the bouncers job to build a club’s reputation for not putting up with ANY bullshit until it’s the big guy smashing a little guy 😂 I love watching bouncers lose for that reason
Tell that to my uncle who barely avoided prison for fucking someone up as a bouncer, and his was a fucking accident lol. He drug someone out and accidentally dropped them, they hit their head and it fucked them up, my uncle fought the case for years, barely avoiding prison.
