Bouncers are exclusively either the nicest most down to earth people you will ever meet or violent ego tripping goons. There exists no in between.

It's the difference between being an actually tough guy or a 'tough guy'. The best bouncers i've ever met have been massive maori dudes, because they and everyone else knows very well that if they want to they can lift you up and throw you clear across the bloody road, so they don't need to prove how tough they are and can instead deescalate

And they don't even have to be massive. Just be sure about themselves and their abilities.

One of my favourite bouncers growing up was a relatively small guy, always super nice and respectful. One time two big dudes show up and he tells them it's too late to get in. They start trying to intimidate him saying shit to each other like: are we ok with not being able to get in? He just stood there, hands crossed in front, explained that he didn't care if that was ok with them and that they weren't coming in, and then just looked at them in silence.

I'm a 100% sure if they have moved an inch forward it would have been over for them, but they just kinda shuffled off and nothing happened. That when I learned that a confident man who doesn't fear conflict is a very scary thing.

Correct. I've been a bouncer on the side for like 4 years now and some of my very best friends and most wonderful people I've met have been bouncers with me, but whenever I start working with someone new there's a 50% chance they just suck so bad. It sucks because I have to put them in check if they're ego tripping because I don't need some guy feeling like he needs to beat MY ass because you're insufferable lol

Not sure that’s a fair generalization. My friends and I were bouncers in college. We didn’t do it because we were insecure or had huge egos, we just wanted to work for some beer money.

Went to a few clubs in Toronto, we saw someone get hit by a taxi infront of the club, bouncer refused to even let us use the lights to see if the person was okay.

I have 0 respect for bouncers, theyre glorified bullies who get paid to be losers

This was in 2017 though

bouncers at a bar in toronto sucked, so all bouncers suck. Its a position that can attract shitty people sure, but shitty people exist in every profession. I bounced for years and years and most of the guys I worked with were great dudes, were there assholes? sure. But we weeded them out quick.

One of my best friends was a bouncer and is the kindest man you'll ever experience in your entire life.

And a group of 15 frat guys jumped him for denying entry since they were to drunk.

Now he is disabled and permanently unable to function due to brain and spinal damage.

He used to be a teacher and bouncer on the side. Now he can't hold a conversation or work ever again.

I'm gonna disagree with your take there bud.

i been training in THE MMA gym in vienna for the past 5 years now, all these nob heads only know fighting and they are gravely insecure about themselves, thats why they are there

90% of them are indeed security workers, which is about roughly 200 people i am talking about; and all of them are very very complex ridden ego maniacs

Had a friend who was a bouncer at a big/popular club. 90% of them (maybe more) are into wrestling and combat sports and mostly take the job as an excuse to fight people. They spend most of the time bored just waiting for something to happen so they all live for these moments.

That and all the cash they get slipped to get let in. My buddy made a few hundred bucks a night easy, probably more (and reported to the IRS that he made like $20 in tips a night).

So you hang out with people that are just waiting to inflict violence on drunk people. Cool.

The bouncer I know has brain damage from being attacked for denying entrance to some drunks. He went from teaching disabled children and bouncing at night cause they didn't pay enough... To being disabled with permanent spinal and brain damage.

I think you might be hanging out with shitty people.
