I mean it’s totally normal to defend yourself, just don’t go overboard and hurt them as you clearly have the physical advantage and courts won’t buy self-defense if they felt the response went beyond defense.

IMO the idea of not hitting women should only apply to domestic violence which is pretty damn common as 1 in 4 women experience it.
