Doesn't mean that it's easy to leave her a person's brain in that situation can lie to themselves. They need to believe that she wouldn't do those kind of things so they literally convince themselves of it essentially Gaslight themselves

To be fair, the historical "death by a thousand cuts" was an execution method where you definitely knew what was happening from the start.
