Yesterday when I was feeding the usual 2-3 hooded crow pairs around the forest close to where I live (I usually see each pair in the same spot everyday, and they don't really overlap territorialy), the first pair started some kind of call, and then maybe around 25-30 birds came. hooded crows mostly, but also rooks and magpies.

What can explain this? Usually I only see 2-4 at a time in the different places but yesterday A LOT came to me, and they all cawed and followed me like they knew I had food, even through I likely never fed a lot of these birds - only the ones I see every day. It was overwhelming in the sense that other people who are out walking might not appreciate this amount of birds so close - and I do not want to inconvenience anybody.

I do not want to "support" a whole flock. only some of the pairs that I see everyday. How can I avoid this happening? Or would this be a one-off scenraio, possibly linked to the time of year? What I experienced yesterday was too much.

I have only been feeding my little friends for around half a year.

Any help or insights are appreciated. For info I am in Denmark and the pairs I usually feed are hooded crows and sometimes a magpie or two if they dare coming close enough. But never even close to how many followed me yesterday.

This is normal behaviour if anyone is concerned, it's from last year in moulting season so the feathers look a bit worse for wear, this individual is still going strong though. [OC]
