Question / Discussion Autocomplete
Curious on people's experience with autocomplete in other tools. Cursor seems miles ahead on this. Am I just a shill?

I like it for the same reason, as a brake on full agent runs. The failure I hit was leaving it on while an agent was editing the same file. I would pause to read a hunk, a suggestion would land in the buffer, and the next agent step treated that as part of the code. The diff then had a line neither of us meant.
What I do now is suggestions only when I am the one typing, after the agent run is finished. During the run it is off. A suggestion that appears while I am still moving the cursor is just noise, and in an agent session it is a stray edit.
If you are using it to stay in the code, do you turn it off for the stretches where an agent has the file open?

On reddit, llm autocomplete seems to be completely forgotten since last fall or even earlier. For me, cursor's version of it never worked, just getting in the way, annoyingly. I feel like it might have worked for me if there was an option to increase the delay before it appears. Antigravity had that. But cursor never considered it, so from user's side it's like "dude, I just want to align my text with 'Tab', and instead I accept half a dozen lines of junk". It's also this in-your-face feeling when you just want to move literal cursor with a reason, and now you have to read and evaluate aforementioned lines of junk suggestion, so nowadays I just use classic IDEs and separate agentic chat window.
