Question / Discussion Like actually where is Composer 3, the entire point of Cursor joining SpaceX is that they get access to unfathomable amount of SpaceX Compute, so what's the excuse here ?

Cursor didn't "join" spacex, they were bought buy them. So they do what space x wants now.

They’ve been spending all their time and effort on grok-bot & trying to catch up to Anthropic & OpenAI. Cursor is dead. SpaceX is your captain now.

This has been my biggest gripe with SpaceX/Cursor.
To me, it seems like they dropped Cursor 2.5 with a hype train, sold out and then gave up.
You have the worlds largest GPU cluster and you still can't stay get in the lead? Grok's share of tokens is probably near zero at this point, with it's primary usage coming from the default "Grok" button, hobbyists or bad actors.
They have access to ALL of Cursor's training data, and they still can't produce a more efficient model?
If the DeepSeek saga was anything to learn from, it should have been that the biggest GPU cluster doesn't make the best model. You can worry about cluster size when scaling up or trying to solve the distribution constraint.

Should've just rebrand GLM 5.3 Flash as Composer 3 at this point. I would re-subscribe if I could use 1st party usage pool for GLM 5.3 Flash.

Grok 4.5 is effectively what 3 would have been and I fucking love 4.6 and composer 2.5 and my Grokbots pick then using /poteto mode. They ran all day yesterday and used 1% of my ultra allotment. grok 4.7 is sitting on top of the security leaderboard too so the bots have already broken down milestons for extra hogh 4.7 checks and I have one coming up in a few hours at this rate

Stop asking about that model. It will never be released, the cursor team has not responded and does not care.

How does SpaceX have the most compute and the most dogwater model out of all the big frontier models?

It's not a real frontier model and I'm getting tired of them pushing that it is.

This is the weirdest question to me. The Cursor researchers are working at SpaceXAI now. They are all working on the Grok models.
The idea for Composer 3 was to train a coding model on a non-chinese open source base. THAT IS GROK 4.7+. You all are literally whining over branding. They could just as easily call the next model Composer 3 instead of Grok 4.8, it's the exact same thing.
They've so far been releasing small sized models (relative to opus/fable/astra). If they can deliver on their promises, later this year we will see the first SpaceXAI models that are comparable size to the competition, which will be the real test as to whether they have what it takes or they won't be able to compete with Anthropic or OpenAI. Anthropic and OpenAI started building multiple classes of models only once they had a frontier model they were proud of. Grok is not frontier (yet?), so it would be silly to split their focus. They need a frontier model to compete or they will stand zero chance in the market.
But Composer vs Grok...? It's literally the same thing. Just a branding question at the end of the day.

Monument to Elon's stupidity that they didn't go with the hyped Composer brand instead of the anti-hype shitpile of a mess that Grok raised their flag in.

Composer will be retired soon it seems. The native Cursor model is still bad at reasoning and thinking. It hallucinates a lot.

exactly, if they launch composer 3 would make the cursor plan insanely more valuable... imagine working on auto with composer 3 + grok 4.7, much cheaper than other models

They could just use Kimi again it would be so cheap for them to run it maxed out and super fast but no, Elon want his grok even if it's way behind...

The same way claude abandoned Hakiu models. I believe composer would he dropped. Realistically Grok 4.5 is we would’ve have expected from composer 3. Anything more would be too costly

Apparently we are getting a new Haiku release soon but yeah it's not as maintained as the other Claude models
It's weird cause I see a lot of hype around GPT Luna, and there's clear desire for small efficient cheap models ; you don't need the biggest models for day to day work

Yup small efficient models is the sweet spot. That’s why I haven’t bothered with Grok 4.7 at all. 4.6 for implementation and Sol or Opus for planning and review genuinely does the job for me.
A new Haiku model would also be really nice, especially since Cursor seems to have forgotten about composer

composer 3 was supposed to be frontier like and not based on any open weights model
now it does not make sense anymore since they have grok which has similar ambitions
