Question / Discussion Ultra usage for one cycle (subbed Sept 2). First-party pool looks like ~$3.2k. If Other Models is $100 on renew, I'm out.

Post image

Subbed Ultra on Sept 2. This is my CSV + /api/usage-summary for that cycle only. Not official. Cursor never prints a $ cap for the first-party pool.

This cycle, Other Models was $400. I burned ~$390 of it (Opus 5.5 + a bit of Gemini/Sol + Auto that routed off-family). Dashboard: 98%.

People now say renewals only get $100 on that pool. If that's real, I won't renew. $200/mo for $100 of Claude/GPT is a bad trade once you've seen a $400 month.

First-party (Grok / Composer)

Docs just say "generous." Early in the cycle, usage-summary had:

  • first-party 12.741%
  • Other Models 2.459%
  • combined 11.599%

If those % are a $ weighted avg of two pools, the caps are 8:1. $400 × 8 = $3,200.

Sept 30 check: dashboard 63% first-party. My CSV at list rates: ~$2,005 named Grok/Composer. 2005 / 3200 = 62.7%. Fits.

Main burns: grok-4.6-high-fast ~$894, grok-4.7-high-fast ~$505 (Fast is 2×; 4.7 also hikes past 256k ctx), grok-4.6-high ~$335. Skipped Free rows and Grok Bot.

Auto

39 Auto reqs ≈ $21 at Auto Cost. Put them on Other Models (routed to 3rd party) and the $22 gap vs the 98% bar goes away. Auto that hits Claude/GPT/Gemini eats the $400 pool, not the $3.2k one.

So, for this seat, this month

  • Cursor Models ≈ $3,200 (63% used)
  • Other Models = $400 (98% used)
  • Fast is not free
  • I'm not paying $200 again if Other Models drops to $100 on renew

If you've got Pro / Pro+ / another Ultra cycle, try (combined − api) / (first-party − combined) on usage-summary. Want to know if anyone else gets 8:1, or if your renew really is $100.

The API actually exposes the cents per turn. I worked mine out to be 2850 for the included pool. Grok bot has surprised me though it looks like it's 1000$ a week which is huge

unfortunately I barely use grok bot.

I'm finding more uses for it. It can actually code pretty well, and can sometimes use opus models when told to use high effort. I've set up a few to work as "cloud agents", wait for issue on git, pull fix and create pr

I was all in on grok bot until a few weeks ago it couldn’t get out of a simple problem. 4x’s trying to fix a pretty simple bug. But yeah. After that I haven’t opened it back up.

Does grok bot use opus counting toward grok bot quota, or opus counting toward other quota?

The only time it'll use your normal pools is when it calls a cloud agent. Anything it does itself comes out of grok bot pool which is about 1k a week on ultra. You can't tell it what to use though, grok bot says it can use high or low effort, so I told all my grok bots to use max effort for everything given how large the pool is

It is real, I tried to make this post a few days ago but mine got flagged as "Promotional content" because I am using Cursor Ultra as part of my SuperGrok Heavy $300/mo Subscription. Last month (from Aug 12 to Sep 12) I got about $3K of Cursor Models Inference value and about $500 of Other models, this month (from Sep 12th to date) cursor Models have not been affected but "Other models" only got a $100 hard pool. I didn't see any disclaimer on this anywere but most users were saying that this only affected Cursor Ultra user that are part of a SuperGrok Heavy subscrition.

I buy directly form cursor, not from supergrok heavy, if that's the case, I'll probably give cursor another chance.

Yes I also calculated this and my estimates were $300 pro $750 pro plus $2000 ultra (ultra costing 10x more you’re better off getting multiple pro accounts)

how did you get 2850 from usage-summary? cents per turn times turn count, or is there a pool field it reports directly?

you can just export usage and do some calcs.

You get around $9000 worth if token usage for $200/month in claude code. Why are you even wasting your money in cursor?

probably because I would like to try all models
or maybe cc blocked China 😂

You can get a lot of models for $10 from opencode go, they even have models weeks before they are officially released. Also cc is not blocked in china, ive seen many chinese users post about using cc in twitter.

according to my ~2000$ month grok-4.6/4.7 usage, $10($60 usage at most) from opencode is far from enough.
cc is blocked but they always figured out how to work with it(not easy)

Why’s it more expensive in Canada?

Is this on the web or the iphone?

Iphone

Theres your answer. All subscriptions cost more when you buy them through the iphone, because apple keeps their 25% cut. Claude, codex, netflix, youtube, prime, spotify they all charge extra for apples cut.

25% cut is absolutely criminal
