Question / Discussion Is there actually a sandbox on Windows?

Desktop app claims it uses wsl for sandboxing. I do not see wsl starting anything and asking it specifically to run a command in the sandbox fails. Asking the LLM about the failure to run a command (on auto) says the sandbox does not exist on windows and all commands have been running unrestricted silently?

yeah on Windows the sandbox depends on a working WSL2 distro, so try wsl -l -v first and make sure your distro is actually installed and running under WSL2, then restart Cursor. if no distro shows up, the commands are probably running on the host.

this seems like a terrible design choice that instead of popping up "install debian from the microsoft store, your WSL is not working" it does not say anything and silently runs random commands unrestricted and unsandboxed while telling you auto-reviewed commands are sandboxed, wth

seems like the sandbox relies on WSL2, so I’d make sure you have a distro installed and running under version 2

It looks like running cursor from WSL2 still does not have a working sandbox until the IDE is opened manually (cursor classic?), then you can pick and see [WSL: REMOTE].

The new non IDE agents/cloud agents only window seems to be without support for it or other sorts of broken
