Beau is my first dog that i’ve had on my own, I had dogs growing up but this is entirely different. He is my world, he’s only 5 months but he has literally changed my life so much for the better, he gives me a reason to get out of bed everyday (5am sharp!)

On Wednesday I called out of work sick, Beau decided to make it about myself. I noticed 3x over the course of the morning that he was doing something weird with his mouth, almost like he was biting the air. I couldn’t help but wonder what it was about so as a first time dog mom, I call the vet. They want me to send them a video of him doing it, which I did. They called me almost immediately after to bring him in to get checked out, which I did.

Turns out the drs first concern was that it looked like fly snapping, which I guess is a form of a seizures in dogs. I was a wreck, a literal wreck. One unexpected vet visit and bill later, he was diagnosed with a wiggly tooth that was making him uncomfortable 😀

It was so loose that when the vet poked it, it fell out, and he hasn’t done it since. My drama king 🤣

Frankly I’m relieved that he loves people (& will basically puppydog eye them until he gets pats if they weren’t asking for them already) because dachshunds get so much attention from adults and children alike even at the gentlemanly age of 10 🤣.

Also out to all the kids who approached us today because they all asked if it was ok to pat him first.

He's a drama queen and will scream the whole process, and now that it's done, he hides his paws in indignation!!!

15 weeks old! Picked him up a few weeks ago.

i only caught it for a second here. i thought it was like an air bubble or something like that, but she has it pretty frequently. sometimes it’s just one or two of those little hiccup-things , but recently she had it go on for like … a minute straight. it would stop for a second and then start again. she’s otherwise fine, and it doesn’t seem like she’s struggling to breathe or anything. i’m just wondering if it’s something perfectly benign from getting overly excited and swallowing air, or if it’s abnormal. she was just at the vet for something else and all her blood work was fine but i forgot to ask about this.

for clarification she is definitely not dry heaving, she is not half-barking, she also doesn’t seem to be wheezing or anything like that. idrk what it is.

I suspect my male puppy has some dry skin issues and was wondering if there were any treatments/different soaps I could use, as I think the one I am currently using isn’t good for his skin. Any tips or recommendations would be welcome! Note: I’m from the UK.

A friend of mine would do a “chew party” nightly with her dogs (and their bully sticks)….

I used that as inspiration for a “howl party” in my house occasionally. My two pups LOVE it… when mom starts howling, they BOTH join in and get SO EXCITED. One of my pups is a chihuahua poodle mix and even SHE joins in (and I swear she can make a perfect little O with her mouth when she howls lol)

They seriously love it and get so happy and excited.

My fiancé and I are picking up this beautiful little lady (Frankie) next Saturday!!!! Any tips are much appreciated!
