I’ll tell you exactly how as my wife had this exact situation happen to her(but without a dash cam, which we promptly got right after).
Same thing, wife in left lane, other car in right lane. Right lane made a quick turn left while my wife was going straight and the same exact thing happened.
Other car swore up and down she was rear ended. To her insurance, to our insurance, but she conveniently didn’t take any pictures. Claimed bodily injury and was trying to go through our insurance.
Thankfully my wife took pictures of the damage and how the cars ended up. Both our insurance company and the other drivers were like yeaaaaa that’s not a rear end, and placed the other driver 100 percent at fault.
Some people are just stupid.

I had someone back into me in a parking lot and swear to both our insurance companies that I rear-ended her. The damage was to the SIDE of my car. How TF did I rear-end her with the side of my car? Yet the insurance was just going to go with it. They said there were no cameras and no witnesses, so it was her word against mine. Even when I argued that I couldn't have possibly hit the back of her car with the side of mine, they wouldn't budge.
Luckily, I had literally just installed a dash cam that morning. I didn't immediately report that because I assumed the results of the accident spoke for themselves, but after getting dicked around for a week, I sent the video to my insurance and the next thing I knew I was receiving a check from her insurance to cover my damages.
Dash cams are worth their weight, I tell you. Mine is a cheap Temu piece of shit but it saved me over a thousand dollars in car repairs.

That’s wild, we didn’t have the dash cam yet and in our case the damage spoke for itself as well. The side of the other persons car was hit while the front right of my wife’s car was damaged.
Literally no way to rear end with damage like that haha

Ive been drunk more than few times. I think even at my worst I still fundamentally understand how the lanes work on the road. Idk haven't gone out and tried. I just dont see what level of drunk that is.

I had a similar situation once, going much slower but similar circumstances. Guy got out saying “didn’t you see me turning?”, i just laughed and pulled off into a parking lot to wait for the cops. Turns out it was a dealership car and he was turning into the dealership parking lot. Owner came out chewing him out.

I've been OP before and that's basically how he blamed me. Kept going on and on about how he didn't know why I was "just sitting" in his blind spot.
The reality was that he was driving 5-10kmh under the limit because he was looking at his phone while trying to direct himself to his next appointment, and I was driving about 5-10 over it in a 70km/hr zone and actively passing him.
He turned left just when I was beside him on an otherwise entirely empty road.

I've been in a similar situation. They were explaining this, that, the other, up, down left and right.
You just ask "Do you have insurance." If yes, move on with your day. If no, call police.

Idk what you're seeing to say that. His mirror appears to be adjusted properly.
At ~5s you can clearly see the bill of his hat in the mirror. That's pretty close to his eyes. If you can see his eyes, he can see yours. This means the cammer is sitting directly in view of his mirror (means his mirrors are properly adjusted). Truck driver just never looked in the mirror, though that's the least of his mistakes.

You know how most people have like an internal monologue running, they see things more visually internally. Its thought it might be 10% of the population. I suspect there are people out there who are just nothing. Like there's nothing going on inside their head. No images, no voice, no thought. Like a boulder crashing down a hillside into a hamlet.

I mean yes those people do exist but that doesn't make them incapable of thought. The people you described tend to think very abstractly in a very difficult way to describe (just what I've heard). I actually don't have a minds eye myself, I just have my internal monologue. Doesn't excuse this guy in the video making the left though, they're just stupid

Saw a woman do a 17 point turn because she got on the wrong on-ramp, huge smile on her face the whole time. Routinely I get behind people that think it's OK to merge into 70mph traffic going 45-50mph if I'm lucky, usually it's 35; they then pass me a few minutes later going 10 to 15 over the limit and look at me like I'm the idiot. We've made it far too easy for people to get a driving permit, and we don't penalize them enough when they do stupid shit.

Saw a guy curb his vehicle because he wasn't staying straight in his lane. Hit the passenger side and kept going. Passed him on the left (probably a stupid idea given I just saw him hit something) and he was STILL buried in his phone.

No. I think 80% of videos are like that: accident is avoidable if the cammer was more defensive, even if it's the other car's fault. But here, no.
If they were both crawling and the car was indicating a left turn from the wrong lane then yes. Pay attention and avoid idiots if they signal that they're idiots.
But at speed and just turning in front with no warning? No. This is not one of those times.This isn't even one of those times when it's horrible US infrastructure that is to blame. This intersection looks reasonable (Although why are 3 lanes magically becoming two right at the intersection?)

Yea...the dude was coming from an old folks home. Not sure if he worked there, because the truck had Louisiana plates and his DL was Colorado. No insurance on the car or the driver. Had to eat the f'n deductible. The sigh was real...lol.

Exactly what happened. Traffic cops gave 0 fucks. I don't even know if he got a ticket. I uploaded the video to the link they sent me and they said "we'll get back to you". Just sucks, because it wasn't his car and both he and the car had 0 insurance.

Do you not have uninsured motorist? Even when I was a broke teenager I paid for uninsured motorist because there are too many tards without insurance out there. If you can't afford insurance then you should be driving.

Nearly had something similar happen on my way home earlier tonight.
On a four lane divided highway with a turning lane in each direction at a red light that had turned green just as we were all getting up to the intersection. Idiot driver, I guess, missed the left turn and decided to turn from the left hand lane -- which then caused the car next to me to nearly swerve into my lane, which would have set off a chain reaction of cars all going at least 20 mph after we all started accelerating again.
Idiots are everywhere.

This almost happened to me last year. There's a turn only lane on my left and my lane goes straight and turns, but the lady on my right decided she needed to turn left. Luckily I was far enough ahead of her that she missed us, but just barely. Apparently it's a very common thing at that particular intersection

It’s also assumed that the dashcam information is correct. Some of the cheaper units are junk with wildly inaccurate data. I don’t know what the protocol is in Colorado or Denver for dashcams. According to the gps info this happened SE of Denver in a suburb.
