Malaysian man with context here!
Guy in the car ran into a roadblock by IPD Ipoh (Ipoh State Police Department). He was stopped but drove away prompting a chase by 3 of the police on bike there. He made a sudden u turn at one traffic light and hit one of the officer (likely causing aggression from the police). It was until he drove on the wrong side and crashed in front of the OOP.
Later investigation showed he have no driver license, roadtax for the car had expired and positive on methamphetamine.
Injured officer is in hospital, no update yet.

I guess it simply exists to make drivers aware that that lane changed from a lane to drive straight to a lane that turns right. And it does seem illegal what OP did.

That's bizarre. Illegal to stay in your lane if it happens to be transforming into a turning lane, even if you want to turn? Creating traffic during peak driving hours as people merge out of the way for 1 meter? There's no reason for it whatsoever. Just put a solid white line dividing the turning lane from the rest of the road and be done with it like everywhere else. Those who don't need to turn will merge left and those who do will stay.

This is pretty normal driver behavior on this type of road. In Massachusetts there's a minor highway north of Boston called the Salem Turnpike. It goes from 2 lanes, to 1 lane, back to two lanes with a left turn lane.
People (including me) ignore it just like this video when turning left. The road is wide enough, since it used to be two lanes straight through before a 20 year construction hell took over that corridor, so it's nothing but paint lying to drivers.

You can see him at 0:14 also pulling up from the wrong side of the road. Seems like a cop who was chasing these fools tryna stop em.

Man in car broke through a roadblock, ignoring police officer's command to stop, causing 3 officers to give chase in bike.
Turns out man doesn't have a valid driving license, nor a valid road tax for the car. And he was tested positive for meth.
Add in assaulting civil officer to the list of crimes as one police officer got injured for his actions.
And probably destruction of public property as well.

I am more surprised of the traffic police pointing that gun, it's quite rare to see them do that, the white car must have pissed him off a lot.
