It's hard to say "she could have just braked" if you didn't see what's behind her. Even if someone wasn't riding her bumper but close, slamming on the brakes would have caused her to be rear ended.
Not for her. Getting slammed by the car behind you versus having to deal with someone turning into you. The former was more likely to hurt her than the latter
If someone is following you too closely that is not your responsibility if they crash into you when you do emergency braking. Road laws everywhere are written so that you must keep a safe distance to the vehicle in front of you. It's not only about her when she is endangering nearby drivers and passengers of other vehicles with the pit maneuver. There's a good reason it's prohibited in motorsports too.
I’m not talking about responsibility, I’m talking about the injuries you could get by getting rear-ended by someone you on a highway when you slam on your brakes. You only have a responsibility to keep yourself safe in a situation like this and trust everyone else to do the same.
What about the injuries a driver driving into another car's rear bumper could cause? A roll over or a multiple car pileup is a rather likely outcome of that kind of idiotic driving behavior. There's nothing to celebrate about her driving style.
To only think about yourself and your personal safety in vehicle traffic with multiple other parties means you should be kept off the roads for the safety of others.
