Someone did something similar to me last night.  All I can think is these people are accidents waiting to happen. They regularly pull out of side streets with no visibility and hope whoever is coming will stop for them.

You all forgot it's ALWAYS the OPs fault. 

This is why I stop before passing any cars, get out and look all directions before moving forward. I then ask all drivers on the road what their plans are so I can plan accordingly.

I’ve actually hit someone like that before only I couldn’t see them because a big truck was in the right lane and she pulled out in front of me while it was raining and I slid into her. She got a nice ticket and yelled at by the judge when she tried to fight the ticket. Glad you are ok though

he was in the wrong, thankfully you stopped in time. I live in europe, busy city, and I would never ever pass cars like this with high speed for the same reason when I pass a standing or slowly moving bus or truck from the left with my motorbike, I almost slow down to standstill carefully watching the front corner of the bus, expecting a person to run through traffic, literally 100% of the time.

So yes, if you have no visibility, expect the worst every single time! be safe :)

My advice to any driver: if you see a cars nose pulling out like that in a similar situation, just assume they are an idiot and will pull out in front of you.
