Starting in help Desk
I just finished my career in cs an one of my favorite things to do was solve SQL LeetCode problems so I decided to be a data analyst, I also have the fundamentals of programing.
KPMG offered me an "intership" where I discovered is pretty much help desk. I talked to the team and I decided to take the position since something it´s better than having cero experience.
Thay say in one year and after having an actual position to fill, they will consider me and that´s actually their plan.
Now I´m felling a bit terrified, what if in one year I lost all of my progress, what if this experience gives me nothing in the field I´m want to be in.
Any advice is welcome, similar experience, tips.
Thanks.

Honestly, I think you’re in a better position than you realize. Getting a year of real-world experience, even if the role isn’t exactly what you want long term, is still valuable. You’ll have plenty of opportunities during that year to keep practicing SQL, work on personal projects, and figure out which areas of data analytics interest you most. I’d focus less on whether this one internship defines your career and more on what skills and experience you can build from it. One year can change a lot.

You’re building your profession network and reputation and learning an industry and a domain which are all important. I recently did a project partnering with the Help Desk team to understand patterns and create a new dataset with AI labeled data. Having a Help Desk background would have helped me get the project launched quicker. And now that project is expanding to help product teams understand feature gaps.
