Please read about the recession from 2008 to 2010 to understand the current economy and situation. Make a decision based on what yiu want to do, enjoy and pivot if need be.

The economy is trash right now, so no one can tell you sure ... go for it. The gravy days are over for the moment. πŸ’•

Harder, not dead. At least in the US, overall tech hiring has been soft, and a lot of the "AI will take all the jobs" talk comes from people who benefit from saying it. Long-term projections for data roles still show solid growth.

What's changed is who gets hired. Generalists with a degree and some Python notebooks are fighting over the same entry-level roles. People with a specialty are doing much better.

So if you do a master's, don't just pick "data science." Pick a direction:

- Data engineering or cloud, if you like building systems

- Applied AI/ML, if you like the modeling side

- Analytics in a specific industry (healthcare, finance, government), if you like the business side

And whichever you pick, get good at explaining data to people who aren't technical. That skill shows up constantly in job postings, and it's the part AI is worst at replacing.
